I find it curious that Chit thought that mentioning the two girls ethnicity was so important, yet provided very little other detail. I would have thought the location of the fight and the reasoning behind it would be more important to think about. And worse it's not his fault. Racism is so ingrained in Americans, and the worse thing is that it is every where, so when you try really hard you cannot help but deal with racists of different ethnicity that you, yet alone having to deal with the huge number of racists of your ethnicity. The breeding of such an Us vs. Them ethnicity battle is a huge problem with American culture that we haven't really addressed at all. If you are an ethnic minority you have to deal with both the racism and reverse racism (which is still racism, but smarmier and more condescending) of the privileged whites, and this is nearly guaranteed to engender some major hard feelings for them. And if you are white you are either given entitlement to be as racist as you want because the power structure accepts this, and if you do not want to be you still deal with the fact that there is a created racial tension because of the fucking racist pricks you can't do anything about. Everyone is damned if they do, damned if they don't, and we need another good civil rights leader to fix this. Or we just need some event to demonstrate that it doesn't matter what color or background you are, a significant portion of the population is going to be damn near too stupid for their own good, say fuck it, and decide to start fighting that.
(Important note: I'll admit that I am a white American male who is educated and as such I have been given a seat of privilege that awards a certain blindness to the plight of others. As such I recognize that there are certain racist tendencies to certain trains of thought that I have to be very careful to avoid, much like the subtly racist comment by chit. This is one of my least proud attributes, and something that I would like to work on.)

Actually DH I think the racism comes into this from the guard yelling "hold still nappy-head" at the girl.

because the regular police don't have the time or manpower to deal with that much juvenile bullshit. Anything that happens on school grounds, a school bus or at a school function falls under the school district jurisdiction. Juveniles require alot more paper work and time because there are usually no local city facilities for them, so they have to be transported to the county facility (which takes up even more time). Think about how many fights and such happen at school. The school districts got their own police to investigate such things instead of trying to get the already overworked local police force to do so when they can get to it. Oh and most of school district officers are trained on par with local police and work along side them often. And they are certified peace officers just like the real police.Bounty wrote:You're all nuts. Sorry, it's the truth: nuts and paranoid. The district I was in in high school had it's own police force, complete with guns and Crown Victorias. Their HQ was right next door to us.
What sort of horrible crimes were happening to justify a force like that? And why the hell wasn't the real law enforcement - you know, the trained ones - dealing with whatever criminal activity happened around the school?
As for the incident in the OP, it sounds like they arrested the mother for "battery" because she pushed the principle (watch the videos). If she actually did or not, I dunno. I know dropping a cake does not deserve a broken wrist, plus after she had cleaned it up, even if there were crumbs left it shouldn't have been that big a deal, there are janitors for such things. But I do wonder how much (if any) attitude she was throwing at the security guards. If she did, then it is likely that she pissed them off and escalated the situation even more.
And the nappy head comment, I am surprised Jesse Jackson hasn't been notified and began his ranting again.

Yes, we had one drug arrest last year and two this year (So far). Do people who possess drugs normally require two armed officers with handguns at the ready at all times? I'm just unsure of police protocol on this matter.SRO do much more than act as security guards. High schools, even good ones, have a crime problem most notably drugs. SRO's are their to act as a deterrent for that, and to serve as a liason between the police department and the school.

Okay, first. Police carry guns on duty, and this is not optional. SRO's are police, so therefore they will carry guns all the time.chitoryu12 wrote:Yes, we had one drug arrest last year and two this year (So far). Second, if the department is large enough there will always be two officers assigned to the same beat. This is so they can perform their duties safely and effectively. Since a SFO's beat is a school then it only makes sense for their to be two assigned.
Third, drugs aren't the only reason they are there, and it's not uncommon for drug dealers to be armed.

also lets not forget that when something like Columbine or Virginia Tech happens again, if there were unarmed campus police, then people would be up in arms about that and screaming about how we should have learned from the past.Kamakazie Sith wrote:Okay, first.
