So what does then? The Ultimate Aero is not only faster than the Veyron in a straight line, but it can whip through corners faster too, averaging 73 mph through the slalom, slightly edging out the Ferrari Enzo (though IIRC the Lotus Elise is still the reigning slalom champ). At about 68 mph the Veyron is no slalom queen thanks to it's 4,200lb bulk, something even it's AWD (which of course contributes to it's excessive weight) can't compensate for.

I wonder if the News segment will mention that the Top Gear Test Track will be in the next Gran Turismo, as well as how accurate its likely to be?

Hmm. Watching tonight's episode brings to mind the question "when did RollS Royces get so ugly?"

First of all the damn car has never driven 273mph, that is a purely theoretical top speed based on wind tunnel tests, in fact on paper the newest version can go even faster then that but that doesn’t matter one bit. The cars speed record meanwhile is 254.88mph, about 2mph faster then the Veyron.

Talking purely about performance is missing the entire triumph of the engineering of the Veyron anyway, which is not just that it can go fast. It’s that you can drive that car to 252mph, then drive it home at 40mph without the engine overheating and park it in your garage for use the next day as a daily driver if you wanted. This level of refinement is far more difficult to reach then pure performance, and is why the Veyron costs about a million dollars more then an Aero. It’s also why it has AWD, so that the wheels won’t spin if the road is anything less then absolutely perfection conditions!

The Aero gets its power simply by supercharging the hell (26psi boost pressure!) out of a corvette engine, which will have a lifespan of jack and shit and require very extensive maintenance if not outright replacement after going 250mph plus. It’s purely a race car for dry surfaces and I am 100% unimpressed with it.

It took me a good ten seconds before that one sank in...

And poor May - for once he thinks outside the box and he's chased off the set.

Jeremy's starstruck. He hasn't mentioned cars in five minutes.

That car is smaller than Clarkson. As in, it actually has less volume than Clarkson.

Charlie Brookers Screenwipe.

Just think of a show where someone like Stark is the star, and you will get the general idea.

I just loved the music when Micheal Burch stole the Peel. What the hell was that? It sounded like it was off some totally rad action film.
