It was a religious Holiday back then, Dionoyus (God of Wine & Partying, and not knowing who your F***-ing, and women who rend the flesh from men)
You know it might actually be more interesting that way.
Ok, Perverts of the World Unite, let's take back the middle of Febuary.

Are you sleep depped? Beacause it seems that your post barely acknowledged what I said and goes nowhere...
Whatever. Anyway...
As I said earlier, I prefer the Valentine's Day/White Day institution in Japan.

Look, when the 14th rolls around, make it a special day. Pamper that special limb or object that's brings you so much joy throughout the year, to show it how much you appreciate it. Maybe put on that special music that gets you in the mood later. And the most it'll cost you is fresh batteries.

I agree with Colin...it's sometimes a day off where I may play:
PSO...to find large weird birds...and bash them over the head...and find booby prizes
Starcraft...and kill.
or something I haven't played in a while
And if I have a girlfriend...take her out to dinner...and then come back home for more killing(maybe sex as well depending on the girlfriend at the time)!!!!

I was saying Valetnite's Day is the perfect time to be subtle wheras on any other day you don't need an excuse to blare from the mountain tops.GrandMasterTerwynn wrote:If you need an excuse to loudly proclaim your love from the hilltops, then you're probably not trying hard enough.CmdrWilkens wrote:I both agree and disagree. So a virgin is not allowed to have an opinion on sex? Mike I've been there and done that and frankly if Spanky dislike's conversations devling into the rather open sexuality of most members here that's his right as much as it is every one else's right to be expressive about their sexual lives. By your own theory here atheists should not have an opinion on religion since they hav no direct experience with it (excepting those who left religion obviously).Darth Wong wrote:Does it occur to you that you should not have such strongly held opinions on something in which you have no experience?Spanky The Dolphin wrote:I retract my comment on the first page.

Single people can get depressed seeing happy couples holding hands in public. Should we get all bitchy about that too?

I realised recently that my mild submissiveness might also play a minor role in the formation of my rather delicate attitudes towards sex and intimacy.

I don't like Valentine's Day, and it has nothing to do with whether I happen to be single or not on that day; I think it's stupid. I think that, when people love each other, they should buy each other presents, or take each other out to dinner, or tell each other that they love each other whenever they want, not just because some corportation says you have to.
It means so much more to be out shopping or whatever, see something that you know so-and-so will just love and buy it then. Who cares if there's no holiday? That way you don't have to kill yourself to buy something in time, you don't have to worry about the other person comparing their gift with what other people got, and it's more sincere if you do it when you don't have to. Those presents mean the most, the 'just because' presents. That's why I'm so poor all the time; I buy presents for people I love year-round.

That's a great attitude Zaia (year-round presents buying for friends). They're lucky.
I have to say I simply don't really participate due to apathy except for just dumb fun.
I'd never feel obligated to do something on that stupid holiday.

Well for me it's the day I got "Dear John-ed" and found out that my GF at the time had turned Lesbian, while "I heard it through the Grapevine" was playing in the back ground....
of course it's been twelve years since then, so I am a bit more adjusted, I no longer defiantly play "I used to Love Her"-GNR, "Last Caress"-The Misfits, "Last Kiss",-(I forgot who that one is by, although Pearl Jams done a good cover of it), "Paint it Black";"Wild Horses";"Angie"; "Beast of Burden"; "Midnight Rambler"; "Sympathy for the Devil"; "Let it bleed"-The Rolling Stones, "Into the Black"; "Down by the River"-Neil Young, "Mack the Knife"-Bertle Breckt/Kurt Weill, & "Saint James Infirmary Blues" like I did the first two years. (Oh, yeah, that's as close as I have come to an inner Ray Cav, in the past)

Actually, most atheists have experienced religion in some form or other. Religion in this society has a nasty habit of not keeping to itself, as I have pointed out on innumerable occasions. I would not have an opinion on what it FEELS like to be religious; this would require experience.CmdrWilkens wrote:So a virgin is not allowed to have an opinion on sex? What's wrong with telling people that an informed opinion is better than an uninformed one? Is that elitist now? I like the way childless people get huffy when I tell them that they don't know jack shit about childraising; it's true. Virgins tend to make sex out to be something bigger and more important than it is, and Spanky is no exception. It's this big looming thing on the horizon which evokes both fear and anticipation. After he's had it a few thousand times, he'll probably relax a bit, don't you think?

I think he will but that doesn't change the fact that for him it is this important. Just as certain issues are important to certain people at different times. My point, mostly, is that Spanky is entitled to express his opinions based on how he feels. We can tell him it will feel different later but that doesn't make his statements now unjustified.Darth Wong wrote:Actually, most atheists have experienced religion in some form or other. I liken this to a cause that you have great passion for, that you speak out for strongly. Over time the cause/issue might become less important to you (aging hippies syndrom) but that doesn't make your original passion and the statement taken from it any less justified.

Spanky, some words of an aging soldier.
You are probably more sensative than the average male, (AVERAGE) and as such, you find the leering, groping, beer commercial version of M/F interaction not so thrilling. I personally don't even like to KISS women I don't have feelings for. You will find, however, that your second, third, fourth,...twentyfirst, time you have sex, it won't be any better feeling, but will get more comfortable. As a former soldier, I have visited 'hohouses worldwide. Don't confuse pleasure with happiness, and intimacy with sex.
I have felt more intimate with women I loved, kissing, than fucking a rented body.
Two pieces of advice. Stick to your guns. If you feel you should wait for the right person, wait, but seek.
Be true to yourself, for the longer you wait, the less likely you are to become jaded, and thus immune to the true glory of sharing bodies with the One you have already shared your soul with.

That is pretty much how I feel, Crue. But it's a little more than that. Your hypothosis comes very close, though.
I guess I'll have to post an essay about it once I figure everything out.
Or would that not interest anyone or be TMI?
