The Deacons were great ships. They were versatile and did their proper role. While they were weaker than a standard Destroyer, they were fast as hell (faster than Frigates), could eat Fighters alive with those missile tubes, and utterly destroyed Frigates. They really were amazing little guys.

The Archangel was meh. It's still no match for a heavy cruiser, and if you got the repulse generator upgrade, you actually REDUCED it's firepower, since the repulse generator blocks your lower ion cannon's forward arc.

From what I've heard, it was possible to micro the deacon to run circles around a heavy cruiser and destroy it. due to the cruiser's limited firing arc.
