I've updated the OP with the link to the new demo.

But of course, you never run out of energy for the chainsaw.Brother-Captain Gaius wrote:Because in the 41st millennium, you're assailed by so many bad guys that you eventually just run out of ammo. well WH40K has a rather odd approach to Technology and there's bad guys that might actually survive a tac nuke. Also there's teleportation technology (or abilities) that allow the bad guys to appear at melee range.Uraniun235 wrote:But of course, you never run out of energy for the chainsaw.Brother-Captain Gaius wrote:Because in the 41st millennium, you're assailed by so many bad guys that you eventually just run out of ammo. Are there any tactical nukes in 40K? I mean, if there's points at which there are too many dudes coming at you to take out with heavy weapons or even artillery support before they close to melee combat, it seems like a nuke or three would have been pretty useful before they got nearly so close.
Yeah, sure. Or rather, 40k has weapons that make tac nukes redundant. You don't usually see them in the core game for obvious reasons, but in spin-offs and variants like Epic and Apocalypse (as well as the fluff) there's all manner of colossal warheads, precision orbital bombardment, earth-pulverizing artillery barrages and so on.Uraniun235 wrote:Are there any tactical nukes in 40K? yeah if you look at the 2 armies/factions that are closest to normal modern humans (the imperial Guard and the Tau) in terms of physical attributes they're really range heavy armies with tanks or equilevants making up a large portion of the fighting force (also IG makes up a wast majority of the imperiums fighting force (Adeptus Astrades (space marines) have millions of fighters in theory but less in pratice due to it factional nature while the guard has billions at least and the fighting force of other factions is less IIRC)Brother-Captain Gaius wrote:Yeah, sure. To be perfectly serious for a moment, the melee combat in 40k is not quite as prevalent as is popularly perceived. It does happen, especially with heavily-armored or melee-centric forces like Space Marines, Tyranids, and Orks, but by and large most engagements really are resolved at range. It's the small-scale skirmishes depicted in the core WH40K game that tend to see more close combat.
Isn't the number of Black Templars stated to be impossible to measure because of the way they wage war and recruit neophytes?Lord Revan wrote:yeah if you look at the 2 armies/factions that are closest to normal modern humans (the imperial Guard and the Tau) in terms of physical attributes they're really range heavy armies with tanks or equilevants making up a large portion of the fighting force (also IG makes up a wast majority of the imperiums fighting force (Adeptus Astrades (space marines) have millions of fighters in theory but less in pratice due to it factional nature while the guard has billions at least and the fighting force of other factions is less IIRC)
So I've read but the way Space Marines are created does impose limits to just how many there can be of them even if the exact numbers aren't known.General Schatten wrote:Isn't the number of Black Templars stated to be impossible to measure because of the way they wage war and recruit neophytes?Lord Revan wrote:yeah if you look at the 2 armies/factions that are closest to normal modern humans (the imperial Guard and the Tau) in terms of physical attributes they're really range heavy armies with tanks or equilevants making up a large portion of the fighting force (also IG makes up a wast majority of the imperiums fighting force (Adeptus Astrades (space marines) have millions of fighters in theory but less in pratice due to it factional nature while the guard has billions at least and the fighting force of other factions is less IIRC)
