So he's a level 6 with three 1d8+7 attacks? Plus he can bite your face off? Oh yeah, that beats a core 6th Level Fighter hands down. Getting up your attack is going to be the issue with this characters growth as in a level or two your going to start whiffing against any even level foe.

Next idea, see if you can talk your dm into dousing yourself in Alchemist fire before entering combat for the extra 1d6 worth of fire damage per attack. :o

Well, my next improvement is going to be trying to bump my "to hit" however possible.

I may even try and pick up some magic items that will do the business.

Quick question...do battlefists count as weapons, and if so, are they automatically masterwork?

Battlefists are a magic "weapon". They actually are pretty good for a Warforged Monk, as they make your unarmed strike/slams count as though you're one size category larger. So yes, it is masterwork by merit of having a +1 (base) enchantment. Much akin to the Warforged's body. The base composite plating is enchantable and thus essentially masterwork, as are the bodies you get from first level feats. Hell, adamantine body is, for all intents and purposes, adamantine fullplate with a hair lower DR.

So, the short answer: Are they weapons? Kinda. They make you count as one size category larger for your slams and unarmed attacks. Are they masterwork by default? Yes, they have a +1 enchantment bonus. That can be increased, too.

Really short answer: Kinda and yes.

Does that mean they can benefit from the Improved Natural Attack feat?

Yeah, they are treated as a component, thus "body as weapon" etc still apply.

Can I sidetrack this for a second? I'm currently attempting to build a Fighter character for a game that has some Eberron inspired elements to it, but is most certainly not the theme--and does not use the feat lists and so on. However, there's a PrC that seems to play similarly to a Warforged (from what I've seen here) in it and it's of interest to me, and available at roughly level 6.

Basically you start off as a Fighter, and are one until 6. When I get a BAB of at least 6 I hit the PrC, and head down the alternate path towards eldritch horror status of multilimbed, crudely winged abominations. You can use a sword and shield as normal, and benefit greatly from added strength but the critter you become gains at level 3 natural slam attacks of 2d8. Those are some potent strikes, and when combined with the morphing you're capable of, could be possibly more useful than normal weapons.

You're considered always in special full plate (10 armor bonus with a 0 dex bonus allowed) and start to gain bonus strength and natural armor as your levels go up to make up for the fact you can't enchant your armor pieces, get d8 hitpoints, and gain a few extra weaknesses. You also get access to a few monster traits, and at level 3 get a pair of 2d8 slam attacks.

The Monster abilities are the real interest, but you need to hit level 3 of the PrC first: one at level 3, and one every two levels after. So it's a bit far in, considering you needed a BAB of 6 just to get the class at all. The abilities of importance are:

1) An extra set of limbs, allowing you to go into the Multiweapon tree. Not the multiattack tree, it does not seem to imply you get more slams.

2) An upgrade of your slams to make them count as if one size larger than you. Since all the character races are small or medium, this would upgrade it to large in my case. These slams do not count for Improved Natural Weapons.

3) An upgrade for your whole creature form into large size, gaining some strength and losing dex in the process. You CAN decide not to be your creature and go back to being medium, but lose nearly all your benefits. However, large size makes up for a lot of downsides, and I believe this would allow you to take large-size feats, but I'm not positive. This would also upgrade the size of your fists, making them count as huge.

.

The multiarm upgrade opens the most options up, since you can do crazy stuff like wield two two-handed weapons, or wield four weapons. However, I'm not sure this dovetails well with the platelike natural armor, which makes your dexterity basically nil and makes you move slow as mud. The character is well set up to be a bullrusher or Shock Trooper type (from what is it, Complete Warrior?), and I do have access to a few interesting feats from the Complete books and Races of Stone (which opens up Knockback for when I turn Large as well as Heavy Armor Optimization) but the real trick is trying to build a character who can best make use of the interesting quirks of the PrC long before any of those quirks are remotely available.

The idea of saying "fuck it" to the multiple arms is somewhat comforting, since multiple weapons require dex scores that I find prohibitive when combined with zero dex bonus armor (or a max of +2 if it turns out that Greater Armor Optimization does work with the crittersuit, which it probably will, you basically turn into a living construct while wearing the armor). The idea is that I could then build myself specifically for a playstyle (like 2-handed monkeygrip Power Attack fighter) that would work well once you hit the PrC (a large creature swinging a Huge-scale weapon, with an extra slam) and it is pretty straightforwards.

But I feel like the ability to get several arms does present some interesting possibilities that should at least be considered before I turn Dex into a dump stat. Instead of extra arms I could get something else--there ARE other options, like extra legs (faster and stable, not bad for making running Leaping Attacks into combat) or the ability to engage in Crude flight (and no hover).

So with such an odd character, I'm somewhat at a loss at how to proceed. There will be at least 6 levels before I can get the PrC (since it has that BAB of 6 as a pre-req) and a few levels after that before I can start choosing monster traits. So what, really, do I want to do? Ignore the lure of multiple weapons, or play the looong game and make some sort of two-weapon fighter? Characters start at level 2. It'll be a long road until 6.

--EDIT--

Actually, it requires a skill to be at 10 as well, which means that I'd need to wait until level 7. I dunno, this sounds like a very, very long time to wait for a PrC that takes about 3 levels to pick up and become unique. So... basically, nevermind.

Is it a custom prestige class, or one from a book?

You could always burn a feat on skill focus.

I'd be inclined to say yes. And, looking at it again, your slam is essentially that of a Warforged two categories larger. Bad-fucking ass. The description calls it a weapon, too.

It was a custom PrC, though I believe it's converted from something--possibly Geomancer or something from Ebberon, since I think it mimics a lot of the Warforged traits as well as some items. I've abandoned it. I don't want to suffer through ten levels of boring straight fighter just to finally get my coolness at level ten, if I even get that far. I'd prefer to play games where you start at level 8 or so since, quite honestly, anything below 10 is really just setting up. All the classes begin to alter dramatically once the party dynamics at level 15ish or so change FAST. Sure, if you really like playing as a level 4 Fighter then huzzah for you, but there's so many more options once you get fast level 6 that I don't even know why people start at level 1 or 2 anymore.

So I'm probably going to go melee-centric cleric instead. Sadly, the diety spread is a bit thin... probably gonna have to go Destruction and Strength rather than something more obviously useful like Trickster and Glory.

And by the way, Warforged are like ten kinds of broken. I wish I was playing a campaign in that setting! :D
