They do not do it the retarded KJA way, with day labourers hacking ships out of stone; there, it feels more like the bad guys are purposely keeping their subjects down on a primitive technological and social out of sheer spite or for some other not yet explained but probably retarded reason. If one looks at Goa'uld technology, including their production capacity, it is clearly apparent that they are able to vastly improve their peasant-serfs' lives; they just do not. Their construction also does not appear to be dependent on human labourers, as opposed to techno-gizmos (judging from instances when pyramids under construction have been seen to be visibly growing in seconds and other examples; that particular one was from the episode when they introduced the Asgard {Season 2, I think}). We know that they are capable of building highly advanced nanobots; presumably, they can run independently working (or lightly supervised) robotic factories. The Ori can be similarly explained away.
None of this is, however, true of StarGate's Earth.

"But there's no story past Episode VI, there's just no story. It's a certain story about Anakin Skywalker and once Anakin Skywalker dies, that's kind of the end of the story. There is no story about Luke Skywalker, I mean apart from the books."

Good luck finding one. Mostly prototypes were made in the USA and less then ten thousand in other countries, most likely decommissioned out of service or replaced. However, there are others firing 7.62 NATO, like the HK 417. It has Picatinny rails, which will be very helpful if you want to mount something like a night vision mount.Maybe give T'ealc an AR-10 carbine (shoots .308).
But really, if you are aiming to use a 6.8mm, then the point is moot as it combines the best of both worlds of the NATO standard military cartridges. Why give Teal'c a weapon that uses a different ammunition than what everybody else uses?

On that note, I'd order some night vision goggles and scopes with spectrum vision, with the standing order that all combat-ready soldiers to always have one ready and charged. This is not only useful in night time but also against possible invisible enemies.
EDIT: Actually, scratch that. Just order some PSQ-20's or something and keep red-dot sights.
Credo!

They are still made by several companies such as DPMS and Armalite in modern versions and those models come with flattop uppers. They are semi auto models, but with .308 you don't want or need automatic fire, which is generally good for nothing but getting the other guys to keep their heads down when hearing gunshots, a tactic foreign to most stargate enemies. I'm planning on buying one myself some day.Zixinus wrote:Good luck finding one. I would imagine that cloaking devices are pretty much immune to such trivialities. We've certainly never seen them used, and I certainly can't imagine the starship versions, at any rate, being vulnerable to such. Death Gliders have sensors capable of detecting installations buried hundreds of meters deep; I really don't think their designers would have left IR and similar features out.Zixinus wrote:On that note, I'd order some night vision goggles and scopes with spectrum vision, with the standing order that all combat-ready soldiers to always have one ready and charged. TERs, naquadah reactors, and other specialised equipment are generally required, as far as we've seen.
I don't know how the gear on the show compares with the particular model you cite (I expect not as well), but we've seen SG teams using night vision gear on various occasions. Episode #4, The Baroca Divide in particular makes use of them, as does #21 Serpent's Grasp. In both of these episodes, the destination stargate is in a dark area. I don't, offhand, recall the SGC packing night vision equipment as standard gear, but I would expect that they do.EDIT: Actually, scratch that.
