You know, when RE4 came out I kept hearing about how they finally fixed the controls for the series. Was that all just hype or did they un-fix them for RE5?

That's the thing... they were 'fixed' only as long as your definition of fixed is "Changed nothing except adding aiming and assorted QTEs."

I still haven't arsed to Download the thing. RE was something I always just played because it was there. Friend owned the copy of RE-GCN and RE4 first. I borrowed them, beat them like they owed me money, and forgot about.

They've always been fun for what they are... but its clear the the flaws of the game are design decisions, and not programming incompetence. The third person view and aiming are mostly concessions to modernity, and allows them to do some things a fixed camera wouldn't be able to accomplish. (And they still have cutscenes for 'dramatic' scenes/reveals...)
