We already have people crowing in triumph how Abbott is a leader who will restore Christian values because he is not afraid to promote it. I guess they forgot about Rudd who used his own Christianity to neutralise the religious pandering of the Howard years. Sometimes it seems like the smart people are just outnumbered by hordes of retards. Wait.. it might actually be true.

I wouldn't get to excited. Labor was supposed to be totally and utterly fucked after Latham and low and behold, someone unknown bloke from Queensland whose only real claim to fame was trying to stand up to the conservatisation of Christianity got into the leadership and the rest is history. It is very hard to see Rudd fucking up but by the same token Abbott might actually be able to put forward the semblance of unity and prevent an utter landslide.

I love the smell of September in the morning. Once we got off at Richmond, walked up to the 'G, and there was no game on. Not one footballer in sight. But that cut grass smell, spring rain...it smelt like victory.

Dynamic. When [Kuznetsov] decided he was going to make a difference, he did it...Like Ovechkin...then you find out - he's with Washington too? You're kidding.

I doubt it: there's pretty much no way Abbott's going to win the swinging voters, because he's far to extreme. He may be "energising the base", but even if he is, that doesn't mean too much in Australia due to compulsory voting.

And frankly, if I had to chose between a Rudd led Labor and an Abbot led Liberal as the Government, its really not THAT hard a choice.

Energising the base huh? What does he expect the conservatives to do? Vote for him twice?

I think Abbott's idea about work choices will consign him to electoral oblivion given how well the unions and the ALP managed that scare.

I love this. The Liberal party wins by-elections in two safe seats they have held for decades and apparently this is a huge win for Tony Abbott. Good grief, talk about low expectations. If a dog was the the liberal party leader, they still would have easily won those seats.

The bias of the Murdoch papers in promoting this "victory against the odds" is shameless.

If anyone saw the Weekend Australian, it was a cataclysm of climate change deniers telling us how Abbotts wishy-washy 'we'll do it if the US does but if it doesn't then clearly it isn't a problem, lol' stuff is actually REVITALISING THE DEBATE.

It's really comical stuff.

More or less the same with the Daily Telegraph over here today and Friday. Its almost funny, except that these guys actually think they are right.

We are supposed to believe a guy who freely admits he hasn't read ANY of the peer reviewed material on Climate Change, and has barely STARTED the 'Skeptics guidebook to Global Warming', is going to have a strong, responsible, logical, affordable and scientifically valid policy on Climate Change, why?
