My point? I've only made it like half a dozen times already in this thread. Paragons = play by the book (YOUR descriptor btw) = lets the rachni queen go due to the alternative would mean genocide. For some reason, committing genocide = i.e. breaking the Council's laws - does not constitute a renegade decision, even though it fits perfectly. I've explained this to you already, you just keep blithely ignoring my posts and repeating yourself, which incidentally is broken record debate tactics. By your own standards it's a paragon decision but you keep 'clarifiying' (i.e. moving the goalposts) what you meant each time I point out the blatant dissonance in it. You are the most dishonest debater I've encountered on this site for many years.
See, I can be a douchebag too.

*snip grif's lame ass rationalisation for committing genocide*
I agree, you are a douchebag.

This is something that drove me fucking mental about Dragon Age; if you look through ten thousand codex entries that are popping up constantly, and spend time going through all the "tell me backstory" conversation options you find some really neat and pretty original ideas that they've incorporated into both the world and background for the different monsters. Only, y'know, almost none of them actually come through in the game itself and are virtually invisible in the game world at large, which basically defeats the fucking point.

It's like, I don't know, they wrote up a whole world that's somewhat interesting, if not a bastion of originality, and then set the game in a little corner of it, in a country who's chief exports are tedium and the colour brown.

Dragon Age 2 following in ME's footsteps

* Conversation system is overhauled to resemble that of ME, with some differences (responses on the conversation wheel will clearly indicate tone, don't have to guess);
* Your savegame from DA:O carries over (presumably so your choices in DA:O have an effect on the world inhabited by Hawke. Maybe you'll even meet yourself?
* Only the PC version will retain DA:O's 'strategic' combat. PS3/X360 version will have a different combat system. Nice.

I like this information. I found it quite jarring playing DA:O after the original ME, because I expected that sort of look, feel and style to the proceedings, and instead got an evolved NWN2 type experience. That's not to say I didn't love DA:O, of course. I did.

Moving to a better combat system is a really good idea. The way DA used radial menus was asinine and broken.

This can be good or bad. Good because they may have better flow. Bad because it might be no different then ME's wasted "Are you GOOD or EVIL...being indifferent is impossible.".

Like ME2, I'll have to see it. Really, it was kinda sad how little changed really except for a couple characters.

Agreed. I didn't mind it, but it was too much "Employ this set of tactics! WIN!". A bit more dynamic can't hurt.

Hmmm, I might end up getting it for the PS3 after-all then. I didn't think they'd carry on save games from the first originally, and when I got DA:O I didn't have a decent enough PC. I was gonna get the PC version, but I don't want to lose my old games decisions if I have a choice.

Hopefully for DA2 the console versions won't look significantly worse than the PC version. The combat control for DA on console is also terrible.

LOL, quite so. The fact that for the Consoles, you essentially hotkeyed some shit and if you had anything else you needed, you searched through the menu mess to grab it. Really the Console UI was abyssmal.

It was notable because it was basically the ME1 combat control... only broken and tiered to shit for no reason. Was it so hard to think 'WoW skillbar presented radially'?

Maybe the programmers were too fucking dumb? Really, it was uselessly tiered but also, just very odd. Even healing was Pause, hunt, drink, unpause. More then a few times early on immerision is broken and you wonder how is it that WoW has a better UI.

I will be honest. I love DA:O.

I have played through three times (all as a mage...) and enjoy character interactions. I found it easy to take several different paths ethically. It is perfectly viable to act as a deontologist, utilitarian, or shitcock. I used the PC version, so the graphics were good on my machine, and the combat system i found engaging and challenging. Then again i play mages and live by micromanaging spell effects etc.

As a result, I am looking forward to meeting myself... With both characters wrapped in sheathes of wards, and with stats increased into the stratosphere by items...

So Gamespot posted the new stuff they found on the SDCC for DA2.

For 360? No new improvements on the UI...yet. Maybe there will be changes but for those who realized the UI was shit? It's still more of the same!
