The Corporatists are also not above threating to throw a temper tantrum for not getting their way and worse still the coffers of both rival parties are funded by the corporate dicks, they're more of a bigger and ingrained problem.

'Secondly, I don't see why "income inequality" is a bad thing. Poverty is not an injustice. There is no such thing as causes for poverty, only causes for wealth. Poverty is not a wrong, but taking money from those who have it to equalize incomes is basically theft, which is wrong.' - Typical Randroid

Re: White House proves once more that it hates it base
The difference between the Republican base and the Democratic base is that the Republican base is willing to throw Republicans under the bus if they do not completely follow their will - even if it hurts their chances at gaining/keeping seats. Democrats - especially progressive Democrats - were willing to support politicians who did not adhere 100% to the party line if they were more electable.
The progressive Democrats expected their faithful party work to be at least slightly acknowledged and rewarded. Now that that has proven to be absolutely not the case, that is starting to change (see Specter, Blanche Lincoln, among others).
Its unsurprising that the party establishment is not very happy about this.
