I don't give a shit about WWI. WWI was a temper-tantrum that Europe felt the need to drag other parts of the world into and accomplished nothing. WWII, we did end. And I didn't mean to imply that Canada did nothing. I'm just saying it's absolutely ludicrous to imply that America somehow gave a half-assed effort in WWII just because we didn't enter into it earlier.Montcalm wrote:Before you start saying Canada did nothing, let me tell you while you American were staying home we were fighting to protect wimpy french, for WWI America got involved in the last year it was an easy victory the German soldier were tiredDurran Korr wrote:How many World Wars has Canada ended, Ted?

I could ask the same about Canada, the answer would be none. Countries don't enter wars when its not in there own interest.Grand Admiral Thrawn wrote:

None. I'm not going to lie to you. That doesn't discount the fact the we ended WWII. We believe that the purpose of the American military is to act first and foremost in the interest of Americans. I guess you Canadians are above such selfishness.Grand Admiral Thrawn wrote:Durran Korr wrote:How many World Wars has Canada ended, Ted?Ted wrote: Why?

Are you nuts? Do you think Japan just pulled back its military and decided to stop voluntarily?I'd say the USA didn't end the war in the pacific.

They kept Britain alive in WW2 by boosting their fleet size by several orders of magnitude to protect the convoys while America was still sitting on its hands.Durran Korr wrote:How many World Wars has Canada ended, Ted?Ted wrote:Why?Durran Korr wrote:The unfair Hitler comment destroys any comedic value this piece may have had, IMO. Actually...It could be argued that Russia did help to end WW2. Or rather made us do it before Japan even surrendered. hell Japan had entered into surrendur negotiations bofore we droped the nuke on Hiroshima.
We dropped it, to keep Russia from being a party in the surrender, and to test our new weapon and give the civilians the vengence they wanted.

How was ww1 and ww2 in Canada's interests? They weren't, but who were generally amongst the first to the front?Sea Skimmer wrote:I could ask the same about Canada, the answer would be none. Countries don't enter wars when its not in there own interest.Grand Admiral Thrawn wrote:

You're a God damned idiot. How exactly was someone supposed to blockade the Home Islands if the Japanese Navy wasn't busy rusting on the bottom of the ocean, thanks to the United States?Ted wrote:Russia defeated Germany.

Besides, all anyone needed to do to defeat Japan would be to side step the majority of the islands that were taken, and just bomb Japan and blockade the Home Islands.

A thousand apologies for not blindly following England into continental pissing contests that either 1) were for no purpose whatsoever, or, 2) the results of a cowardly British diplomatic surrender.weemadando wrote:How was ww1 and ww2 in Canada's interests? The Canadian contribute to the Battle of the Atlantic was important, but hardly decisive. The Germans only had sufficent resources to have a chance of sinking the required amount of tonnage, AFTER America had already entered the war and built hundreds of escorts, CVE's and vast fleets of merchant shipping.weemadando wrote:They kept Britain alive in WW2 by boosting their fleet size by several orders of magnitude to protect the convoys while America was still sitting on its hands.Durran Korr wrote:How many World Wars has Canada ended, Ted?Ted wrote: Why?

Oh, for fuck's sake, will you spoilsports please shut the fuck up?
You've turned what was a harmless, amusing little joke article into yet another goddamned Canada vs US bullshit attack. Look back and see where Durran Korr started this by getting all fucking whiny about a joke that most of his countrymen laughed at, and goading Ted into joining his shit-fest. GROW THE FUCK UP.

You truly are an idiot. Name a nation other then the US that could destroy the air forces and fleets of Japan and then sustain such a blockade. Guess what? ONLY the US could do so.Ted wrote:

Indeed they did. They rolled over much the Wehrmacht and started crushing the Imperial Japanese Army in Manchuria.Alyrium Denryle wrote:Actually...It could be argued that Russia did help to end WW2.
Negotiations, yes, but those unacceptable to the Allies, which demanded unconditional surrender. This had been broadcast to the Japanese government earlier.Or rather made us do it before Japan even surrendered. hell Japan had entered into surrendur negotiations bofore we droped the nuke on Hiroshima.
Our weapon had already been tested. Trinity, anyone? As for vengeance, no (we already flattened many cities and killed hundreds of thousands, over time, wasn't that enough?). It was intended as a shock weapon to force the Japanese to the table. We dropped it, to keep Russia from being a party in the surrender, and to test our new weapon and give the civilians the vengence they wanted.
