One possible issue is that the Imperial rank system has more ranks than the modern ones. We could attempt to use the Rebel/NR/GA system as well - IIRC, its somewhat similar to the Imperial one. You could also switch between army, navy and starfighter commands if phpBB allowed it.fgalkin wrote:Is it possible to use several different ranking systems? As an example here is the US military rank structure.

EDIT: Unfortunately, the Republican system lacks a rank truly equivilant to Grand Admiral. After High Admiral you get Supreme Commander, of which there can only be one by default.
EDIT2: Additional thought; perhaps instead of Grand Admiral we could create a rank "Admiral of the Fleet" as the high-end, functionally equivilant to a 5-star Admiral in time of war on Terran navies.

Imperial Executor?Stormbringer wrote:So do I, there isn't any rank on my proposal that would retitle the Horsemen. Although Executor has a nice ring to it.Colonel Olrik wrote:I want to be Harbinger of Doom
Obviously, this is only an excercise in thought; I hardly expect the Four Horsemen to give up their titles!
I found little problem there, as Grand Admirals in the Imperial era had little or no political power. Moffs and Grand Moffs did.Stormbringer wrote:My take on Phongn's idea. And with the exception of the Grand Admiral/(Grand) Moff discrepancy the whole thing fits the heirarchy of the Empire.

I have no desire to see a purely SW based rank system. This is not a pure SW site. Hell, throw a curve ball and use enlisted ranks. But don't try and limit the options solely to SW only.phongn wrote:One possible issue is that the Imperial rank system has more ranks than the modern ones. Question:
Howmany posts are needed for:
Dark Lord of Mordor
or
His Imperial Magesty Palapatine's High Lord Sith Executioner (I suggest for L.T. Hitman if he get's a decent number of posts in)

I might mention that the Emperor title is unnecessary, since Mike uses Lex Animata (literally, incarnate law) for the administator account. And it sounds cooler, anyway

Hence a suggestion to have a primary rank and administrator-granted secondary usertitle. Only a suggestion, of course.Crayz9000 wrote:I might mention that the Emperor title is unnecessary, since Mike uses Lex Animata (literally, incarnate law) for the administator account. I'm curious as to what Darth Wong thinks of all this. "Hey Mike, since you're not doing anything,(kids, job, keeping watch over us), how about changing this, this, and this? Sound like fun?"
However, I might be tempted by Y. Bear's "Great Old One".

Tis is a ST vs. SW board, meaning that at least the feddies should be represented in some way.
