I will by declaring it as stupid. :P

The reason I don't want to see Thrawn in Episode III is because I just don't like the idea. It reaks too much of throwing a fucking bone to the fans, and he'll stick out like the blue sore thumb he is.

I dont recall that, where is it?
I vaguely recall Obi-Wan telling Luke that Darth Vader killing Luke's mother, although I'm not too sure since it's a very long time ago I last saw the Original Trilogy.
Nope, Ben claimed that Vader betrayed and murdered Lukes father..which is true, from a certtain point of veiw.. :D

Nor do I think the Kaminoans would see any logic in that decision.

Yeah, like inserting Fett into ANH:SE for no good reason...

I'd actually complain about Kid Fett being in the prequels too if they were otherwise good enough to warrant my giving a shit.

What if Boba has also a quick maduration rate (that DOESN'T affect his total lifespan) like clonetroopers? He might be a kid because he was made *afterwards* as payment.

While Fett was in ANH for purely fan-based purposes (everyone loves Fett), it doesn't stray too far from actual continuity from the movies. After all, Boba was acting for Jabba's (who looked truly awful in ANH:SE, much better in TPM) body guard in ROTJ, too.

That said, we've had enough Fett for one film saga. For only being a bit player, he sure has a lot of screentime.

Um ... right. Use a Victory Star Destroyer to kill a Jedi Master, and then canonize a shitty novel series by Kevin J. Anderson. How about we try and beat that in terms of "stupid," instead?

The twist ladies and gentlemen is so fucking simple. Palpatine is the Emperor. That revelation is the twist. Its so fucking obvious and been telegraphed since TPM. Now WHY is this the twist? Because not everyone are fanboys and whores like us. Not everyone has read the EU or boned up on SW rumors on the internet. NOt everyone reads and writes fanfics based on SW, not everyone makes it one of the central hobbies of their lives.

This twist is for the casual viewer who sees the movies in the theater and MAYBE buys the DVD later or rents it. We KNOW what's going to happen because we live and breath this stuff and many of us have to take a step back and put things in perspective. There will be no "I am your father twists" That twist is the Emperor's revelation. Now was the name Palpatine EVER mentioned in the OT?? NO. We only know that's the Emperor's name from WEG and the EU. So let's remember that the vast majority of fans are not the freaks and geeks that dress up like SW characters and debate the physics of SW. They are casual viewers and this twist is meant for them. So sorry.

ANH novel, page 1:
Aided and abetted by restless, power-hungry individuals within the government, and the massive organs of commerce, the ambitious Senator Palpatine caused himself to be elected President of the Republic. He promised to reunite the disaffected among the people and restore the remembered glory of the Republic. Once secure in office he declared himself Emperor.

IN THE MOVIE. I am saying that the casual viewer will not pick up the books as you or I would.

Good point.

I misunderstood what you meant by OT.

To be honest I don't know how much of a revelation that is. I have never really read the books, and didn't know as much as after I had started posting here, but I had still known that Palpatine was the Emperor. Or maybe I was just not casual enough. :D

Great, I am the only person here who like the Jedi Acadmey Trilogy. I read it when I was in the 7th grade so my memory of it will be a little kinder to the book as I just cared for the story.

So he sucks as an author and he made a really bad ship. I happen to like the idea of the Maw Inst.

The story was shit, too, in retrospect. I read it around that age, as well, and my mom described it as a novelized "shoot 'em up." Bad authors need contrivances like Sun Crushers and secret installations to advance the plot. Good authors work with what they have and make everything they invent for the story very significant, not just another superweapon.

As a rationalization for Lucas' blunder for the Kessel Run quote, it works, but beyond that, it conflicted with other sources, and the existence of several black holes in a small region of space is highly questionable ... especially when forming near a habitable planet.

Supposedly the Maw cluster was moved there by an ancient, and long gone alien race. Like the ones who built Centerpoint Station, for example.

They're not that close. And since Kessel is mostly hardly habital anyway, they probably have radiation shielding from the black hole cluster.

Nope didn't find a quote but could swore they said it was possible that the Maw was put there by the same race that put the Corillian planets where they are. I'll keep looking.

Found It
At some point in this ancient era the Corllian system was artificially created, providing evidence that our region of space was once visited by stunningly powerful architects, who may also have been resposible for the unlikely cluster of black holes near Kessel known as the Maw.
Got this from the 1st page of the Essential Chronology
