I miss the miniskirts (especially the denim and black leather ones) that women wore in the 80's. Now, most of them dress horribly, bringing back such abominations like bell-bottom jeans and flat hair -- worse luck.
I rather like flat hair, which is funny cause in the 80's I remember thinking any other hair styles were ugly. Now I look at pictures from my senior year in HS (1989) and think OH MY GOD we looked like that! :-)

We fellas looked ridiculous -- no doubt about it -- but I did like the miniskirts on the ladies.

Black leather miniskirts rule. A black leather miniskirt and a blouse on a woman is sooooo much sexier than that Britney Spears look.

Er, which one? There've been several.

I dont have a scanner, but I will see if I can find something. My hair was not too silly looking. I wore it spikey at that time. I did have a mullet for a while too. My sophmore year I had a flat top which I thought looked cool, but others didnt.

The first name that comes to mind is Chrissy Hynde of the Pretenders because well, my sister's name is Chrissy and she made quite a scene in a PETA protest a few years back. She's not wearing a blouse but she's got the miniskirt on. Their music's not bad either.

What I like about 80's is the music. Yes, New Wave, ladies and gentlemen! I remember, when I was a kid my older cousins listened to the likes of Alphaville, Human League, A-Ha!, Modern Talking, Dead or Alive, Thompson Twins, and Pet Shop Boys. I instantly fell in love to that genre. Now I still keep a lot of 80's MP3 on my hard drive.

Actually BROWN leather miniskirt is much better. I remember when Inge wore that one during our crazy night... Uh... maybe I'll skip the details

EDIT: actually it was suede. Heh heh

The 80s brought us the greatest movies of all time: "Spaceballs"

"what is the combination to the planets force field? .....1, 2, 3.... What?!? That's the stupidest combination ever!"

The 80s had some pretty funny movies. Although I was younger and easier to entertain.

Talking about movie, the 80's gave me the best of all: Return of the Jedi.

No, the sexiest is a woman in a black leather miniskirt and a tight white t-shirt (hard nipples a plus). Now that is sexy.

The song that best describes how I feel right now? A country song "19-Something" by someone I forget the name of at the moment. (Yes, I listen to Country. I occassionally subject SirNitram to it as well.)

I remember rollerskating to the BeeGees, Blondie, and Olivia Newton-John. I jammed with Rick Springfield, and wished that I was Jessie's Girl. I blushed at the lyrics for Erotic City, and rocked down to Eletric Avenue. Somewhere I have Prince Purple Rain and Michael Jackson Triller.... and I could sing every song by heart. Since I didn't have MTV, I stayed up as late as I could, watching NiteTracks until my parents chased me to bed.

I have pictures of me with Big Hair and Material Girl tanks and shirts, with the handkerchiefs tied around my wrists and the long chunky necklaces and hung dangly earrings. (Still remember how to tie them like that too).

I saw All three StarWars movies in the theatres, as well as Goonies, On Golden Pond, GhostBusters 1&2, TMNT ... and many more than I can recall at this moment. I watched Galatica 1980, Blue Thunder, Airwolf, KnightRider, Dukes of Hazzard, and the one show with the fancy motorcycle. I also watched Beauty and the Beast, and I've got the album of Vincent reading poetry here somewhere, as well as the crystal necklace that my mom got me because I loved the show that much.

Face it... I was a teenybobber during the '80s. So I remember EVERYTHING on the TV show, and felt embarrassedly nostalgic.
Friday Night Videos :D I didn't have MTV either. Too bad, 'cause they actually played a boat load of videos then.

The motorcycle show was Streehawk. Also during the 80s, Miami Vice, The Fall Guy, Matt Houston, Magnum P.I., The Greatest American Hero, Riptide, Hardcastle & McCormack, Remington Steele I'm staying away from the sit-coms.

Did you ever see Automan? The character was supposed to be a computerized superhero that came to life. He had this blue neon outfit and his car always turned at 90 degree angles. It didn't last very long. Neither did Manimal which tried to take the transformation effects from The Howling and An American Werewolf in London to tv in the form of a "superhero".

I have "Thriller" on vinyl but it's at my parent's house. :)

Oh lord, it's old home night...

Magnum PI, Matt Houston, and Remington Steele were the sexiest men on TV. Greatest American Hero's theme song still echoes in my head sometimes. Riptide.. isn't that the one with the Pink Hughie Helicopter, or was that something else? I loved Automan and Manimal.. brilliant ideas for the shows, even if the episodes were sometimes iffy.

Is it just me, or did the 80's have better TV programing?

Riptide did have a big pink helicopter. They also had a vintage corvette. I think they were shooting for a goofier verison of Magnum P.I.

Certainly compared to now more shows seemed to try different things. While the few that do now are of a better quality they still get canned about as fast as the shows in the 80s. :?

Why is that? Why do the shows with the most innovative ideas seem to be the ones that get canned the fastest?

Right now I would say it's a cost to ratings thing. Most of the inovative cool shows cost a lot per episode so if they don't have relativley high ratings early they get cancelled. Most of the current "reality shows" are very cheap to put on tv and they get decent ratings so they get to stay on instead of stuff like "Firefly".

I can just imagine people walking out of the theater after seeing it for the first time at it's premiere, and then yelling out "Who ever knew Darth Vader would be Luke's father!' in front of all the people who were going to see it.

That happened in a flashback episode of the Simpsons. Homer blabbed as he was walking out of the theater passed the people in line to see the next showing. :D

I heard about it while I was in middle school from some students. I didn't believe them, but then I saw the movie...
