Well in some respects, a car continuously recharges its battery while driving. The alternator still needs gasoline to run the engine.

True, but the battery does not recharge itself. Data said his power cells actually recharge themselves.

And a car continuously recharges itself. I'm not saying that I think the dialogue is okay, but it can be reconciled with fact if one is willing to think outside the box of stupidity. Hell, maybe there is a generator built into the power cells or something. Its not as if Data has never uttered innaccurate dialogue before.

He has some sort of food bag which he can remove, or it gets broken down into component parts and put back into the replicater (yes thats how crap and half eten food is recycled on a ship they eat it and the waste productes get broken down into there component parts and recycled for raw matter)

Now here's a very basic question.

When you eat something, do you eventually crap? I certainly hope so. Otherwise, it would all build up inside of you, and you'd begin to smell bad, at the very least.

Now since we know they eat, and since they're not waddling about with great distended abdomens while complaining about the smell of crap, it is reasonable to deduce that they must, every now and then, produce great steaming piles of gut-fudge. And since we don't see any shit heaped along the corridors of the Enterprise (except during Happy Hour, maybe) we must assume that they put it in toilets, and proceed to flush.

Now, since we have established that humans in Star Trek spread their cheeks and shoot poo, and since you can RTFT regarding Data doing the same, it is reasonable to believe that Data, like his meaty brethren, must occasionally squirt his Hersheys. Thank you, Ladies and Gentlemen.
