Some of the Alliance forces were inordinately good. One of them, in the EGA, claimed that he could have taken out the shield generator much more efficiently and quickly than General Solo had, and apparently without enlisting the aid of the Ewoks. He does not explain how he would have done this, but I tend to believe him. Every source says that Orimaarko is the best in the business, and he really does know what he's doing. My guess is he would have found a way to destroy the generator faster and more easily.

I'm wondering if the majority believe that all the people in the empire are mindless. Gee next someone will say the empire would just let anyone walk into a secured area and not even ask one question like, "what the fuck are you doing here?"
I think if Endor was even remotely real the rebels would have lost and lost it all. They may have been good guerilla fighters but not strait up open fighters, but the creator f the movies has a good guy must win policy. I'm not saying thats bad but the reality is hard to swallow.

Commander LeoRo wrote:Based on DG_Cal_Wright's post I can guess that he is about as intelligent as a Gamorrean guard. Master of Ossus's post was certainly more informative. I do have to disagree with the assertion the Stormtroopers' armor never failed. Their armor did not protect them from blaster bolts once in any of the movies. The only reason for wearing full body armor if it doesn't protect from energy attacks is for NBC attacks. The Empire never once used chemical or biological agents. It would appear that the stormtrooper armor was more of a burden than anything. If their armor did not protect them from kinetic attacks (rocks etc...) then it is particulary useless. Even a modern kevlar helmet can protect a soldier from a glancing bullet and shrapnel.
The only moron is you bucky. Try watching Return of the Jedi before you post again here. Thier armor DID NOT FAIL. One trooper went down from bolos wrapping around his neck. Others fell due to the fact that boulders that were dropped from a good ten to twenty feet landed square on thier heads possibly compressing the spine.

Their armor has failed against blaster fire, but never against KE weapons.

AL wrote:those rebel special forces must have been gods then. For they were expected to destroy the shields by themselves. A better job could have been done. I always thought the ewok thing was rather cheesey to much a little kid thing. Sort of like Jar Jar in episode I
If you liked the ewok thing and the good guys always win motto then you must love Jar Jar
Don't forget that until they met the ewoks the plan would have been an assault on the main generator complex complete with AT-AT etc. Not the back-door raid that they ended up doing.

The armor issue of the stromtroopers can be wrapped up in one word I think, "flexibility". Offering a wide range of portection to a trooper expected to operate in a wide range of enviroments and situations. As far as potection against blasters, we have never seen hospitals or medical facitlities for the troopers, so we can not know exactly how effective the armor is. Modern day flack jackets for the military will not stop high power rifles but offer some degree of protection from small arms fire. Maybe the armor was design to soften the blow from energy weapons, not completly protect a person from them due to bulk of a armor that would be required.
