LoL! That's the spirit kids. The only that's stopped me know is time. They have it at my college campus, but I'm usually at work when they do it. That was ONE horror story, and I always wondered about the fuckers that came to my high school anyways.

Well, that's not quite true. The first time I went in they put the first needle right through the other side of the vein in my left arm and it started to bruise. Then they spent about 15 minutes poking around in my right arm but couldn't find it at all. The next two times have been quite pleasant though, as it forces me to sit still for 15 minutes.

Durran Korr wrote:I gave blood today for the third time today. It's a pretty rewarding experience, makes you feel good about yourself.

How many of you guys have given blood? And since I am a man and I must make everything competitive, what is your record time for filling the bag? I hit six minutes today, a personal best.

Ive given blood before, and that rewarding emotion you feel over coming you, is the loss of blood to the brain. ::colapses::

Ummm... and haven't you had sex with a guy?
True, but even so... You can't give blood or plasma until a year after you've had your tats.
Yeah, I know, it's te same here,

but, yo're not allowed to give blood ever if you're a man who's slept with a man.

I give blood regularly, though I had to turn down the last session because I was swamped that week and then forgot to call them back to reschedule.

I gave blood semi-regularly as a teen. Not because I was a nice guy, the 50DM they gave you were a nice supplement to my allowance. Plus, it allowed you to stay away from school sports events you didn't like.
Haven't done it ever since. Needles scare the beejesus out of me.

Ah, giving blood....donations are welcome here.
*flashes a fanged grin*

I've never donated blood, much more into withdrawing it really.....besides which I've a pretty low blood pressure which makes it a no-no.

I've given blood before. The last time I did I set off one of their umpteen test screens so I am no longer allowed to give blood until the law in the US is changed. Considering how much my dad was hasled when he used to donate plasma I can't say I'm extremely bummed about it.

Okay, it was taking a long time, and he said it hurt like hell. He asked the nurse and somehow they hadn't plugged the needle into a vain, but instead into his muscle or some shit. eek.
Oh that happened to me. One time i was in hospital getting my balls lowered back into my ball bag, don't ask long story, and i needed a pain killer. The trainee nurse decided to inject though my thigh for some reason. The cow missed my vein completely and drove the needle through pure bone. I howled the place down. At one point i threatened to hire the A Team to blow up the hospital. Well I was 8 at the time.

I don't mind needles. Especially after having fluid drained from my knee, the needle looked like something you'd stick a cow with.

But seeing a large volume of blood flowing from my body makes me queasy, it would take much proding before I would give my 0+ blood away.

-------------

I've seen on various TV shows, clinics that pay for blood. Do these exist and what's the current rate? I've only seen the regular old "blood drives" that pop up in my small part of Canada.

On a related note, I had a blood test today, to check for allergies.

It's bled and I have a huge bruise. Bloody nurses.
