Ever tried it? Staying at home with the kids is anything but boring. My wife's job is harder than mine.

the stereotype that peeves me is when people assume you're a Nazi because your hobby is World War 2 and you read tons of books about it. People also thought I was gonna do a columbine-style shooting at my High School because I carried a big black duffel bag around loaded with books. (but everyone thought I was carrying guns)

But truthfully I think I freaked people out because I always stand ramrod straight and when I walk I make a conscious effort to keep my feet pointed straight so I don't look like a fuckin penguin when I walk.

I confess to the stereotype that I apply most often: I look down on people whose feet point out to the sides when they walk. I simply cannot tolerate that. I don't really know why this bothers me so much. I walk with my feet pointing straight ahead, even though it makes my feet ache and I had blisters for months while I broke in the treads on my boots walking that way.

All nerds/geeks/etc play chess. And only them. I know enough k=jocks/potheads/ravers/skaters/etc. that play chess that it's blow some people's minds.
Hear hear, :D. I've played some potsmoking hippies chess once and I, as an admited geek, had my ass handed to me by a guy that looks like Tommy Chong!

Another dumbass stereotype...well....sort of...is that if you are older than someone else and play chess, an instrument, etc. you MUST be better than the younger person.

"You got beaten in chess by a seven year-old? BAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!"
"Ok, you play him."
"Err...umm....." [/i]

I agree with the Irish thing.

I am a member of the infamous Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland.

As such i'm expected to be a biggot, Support Glasgow Rangers, hate everyone not Protestant, be a bitter billigerant drunk.

I'm not, in fact i'm a Goth, I hate soccer, i like all ppl who are nice to me, and i'm T-Total.

I also resent the Sci-Fi/Geek Connection

What exactly is a "Goth"? It sounds like you are labeling yourself as another stereotype... :?

Yeah, pretty much - goth is short for gothic, generally a class of middle-class suburban whites who are stereotyped as wearing extensive black eye makeup, lipstick and nail polish, black clothing, fishnet stockings, trenchcoats and boots, and generally enjoy Marilyn Manson (and other various "evil" bands) and pagan/wiccan rituals. Many of them whine about being unloved.

So....then is this a stereotype or is it a fact that Goths fit that profile?

Many do. Some don't. Sometimes stereotypes are true...

Hehe....tell you the truth, the one stereotype I've always seen come true are middle-aged waitresses at diners. You know the ones. The ones that call you:

"Sugar."
"Sweetheart."
"Darlin.'"
"Sweetie."
"Sweetie-pie."

It's true. It really is true. Any middle-aged waitress at a diner will act exactly as you expect her too. Shocking, but true.

People who think that since I like classical music, I won't want to share their joint.

Bastards.

Actually they can, and many women make tons of money showing off pictures of such on the Internet :D

Lets see...

1. white = racist (aka say anything remotely against blacks or any other race, and you're a racist bastard)
2. living in the south = stupid hick. I live in Tennessee and I assure you I am FAR from being a 'stupid hick'.
3. scifi fan = geek/nerd/etc... I *hate* that! I have a life for frells sake! Its an interest of mine, nothing more. You don't see me calling any sports fan a stupid jock.
4. "crazy driver" because I do 5 over the limit.... Shit man, old people are more of a hazard on the road than I ever will be. My record is clean as a whistle (because I'm not stupid enough to go balls to the walls around squad cars). Hell, I'm nowhere NEAR as bad as the majority of the memphis drivers...and we've got some of the worst in the country! (next to Detroit that is) I may be aggressive, but I'm not stupid.

What exactly IS a geek or nerd? I mean, do they even exist? And is it necessarily a bad thing? Tell you the truth, eliminating the ugliness factor that nerds or geeks have to have, being a geek or nerd is great. Unless of course you are a comic store-type guy from The Simpsons. Then you have trouble...LOL.

We have pretty bad drivers in New York too. They cut you off, tailgate you, they don't put signals on, they blow their horns at people that have the right of way, disregard pedestrians' right of way, go 30 miles over the speed limit on highways all the while weaving in and out of traffic, and fly down suburban streets in order to get to a red light. Just stupid, stupid stuff. Larry from The Simpsons best summed it up when he raced to get pass a traffic light changing from yellow to red by saying, "Whew! I made it! Now if I only had somewhere to go..." Now I'm not saying all or even most drivers are like this, but you do see a few screwballs pulling shit like this every day. My father said when he was younger, no one drove like that. If only the traffic laws would be enforced here...lol.

Goth: I actually am a semi-goth skatery type...I wear all black, yes, have worn black nail polish ONCE, and don't do the whole makeup thing. I am applying for manager where I work. And am almost bound to get it. I am also a Comp Sci major with a Russ minor. And black just seems more comfortable to me.

Chess: I am a very avid chess player...I also smoke out. And listen to classical music.

I hate this: To be a gamer, you have to like Zelda. I can't STAND Zelda... (Time to be grilled...) Personally, I prefer Tekken and Dynasty Warriors to anything. (that I have played)
