Wow.

That must have set you back a hunk of change. Even if the person was doing it as a favor, full plate has to be custom made and fitted. I mean, you probably got a deal since I wager that you're good friends with the smithy, but that stuff is pretty expensive to make.

On topic, I would say SCA geeks, but they aren't really that bad on the geekiness scale. I'm going to go with furrie geeks. Those are some scary scary SCARY people.

Mine is actually pork barrel stuff; but he said 'anything teh SCA can come up with'. And yes, I've seen people with this stuff. It scares me. Badly.

I never really thought re-enactment stuff was too expensive. Especially considering that you can get an excellent-quality sword for $250, and decent armor for $300, when back in the day those things cost about as much as a luxury car in today's terms.

You can get a chain mail hauberk from museumreplicas.com for less than the cost of a suede jacket from Banana Republic. Chain Mail>Suede jacket

But in those days they needed that stuff.

Now it would be a luxury good.

The furries are the worst of them all.

Wow, Ender and Connor haven't come in and gone "Fiver! RARGH! FIVERS! <insert mildly amusing insult or situation here> FIVERS! Hahahahaha! ME no likey rabid fivers!"

At any rate...of those i've met, anime fans probably....there's always something off about them... plus all those japanese words intimidates me.

EDIT: i just cast my vote and i think it's funny that noone's voted for sw geeks.

And i bet there's a whole subset of furries dedicated to sw/st aliens too.

I am afraid of anyone who appears in a costume at a non-costume function.

Show up at a movie premier in a costume? SCARY GEEK!

Go to a convention in costume and not be in a costume contest? SCARY GEEK!

Walk around a swap-meet in biker-knight garb? REALLY SCARY GEEK!I used to work a swap-meet and these guys dressed like The Kurgan from the highlander film would traipse around, making everyone uncomfortable. I called them the Biker Knights, whatever the fuck they called themselves, I really couldn't care if I tried. Bleeeccchhh!

Yup, and I'd be happy enough to face it armed only with a stout quarterstaff.

Add to mine those stupid fucks that call themselves vampires, seriously or not. Such idiocy, buying into the corrupted garbage that now passes for depictions of vampires these days (Rice, BTVS, VtM, etc.)...

Not scary, just extremely pathetic.

As one of them I have to say, D&D geeks are some of the scariest(and colest) people I have ever met.

YOu all know me...

I have one friend whos life dream is to be a serial killer... And he has figured out ways to allow a 15th level rouge to do over 500 damage a round...legally

There are Stars Wars extreme geeks who wear Jedi clothes all day, really believe that they're jedi, and as a consequence make for a source of extreme embarrassment to their family members (ex: father Jedi, son who's trying to live through it all and not be made fun of cause his dad's the Jedi freak of not).

On the other hand, there are Star Trek geeks who speak klingonese all the time, and model their entire lifestyles around Star Trek elements.

Most anime fans aren't as bad as everyone says they are: I go to a club, and all the members are funny, sociable, etc. They also cosplay sometimes, but hey, so do SW and ST fans.

With all this out of the way, the greatest geeks are those guys with tons of guns, home-made weapons and explosives who think they're some sort of secret spies and go around stalking people, taking notes about their subjects with frightening detail. I suppose these people would be spy geeks or James Bond wannabes.

As a Lovecraftian geek myself, I say that the scariest of the scariest are the ones who think that the Necronomicon truly exists.

Yes - there are occult books available entitled "Necronomicon", most of them claiming to be the one mentioned by Lovecraft.... but none of them can be dated back to before Lovecraft.

(The black paperback by Ed Simon is definately a hoax, that's for sure!)

i'll say the ST geeks are the scariest...at least when an anime geek learns a new language to better follow their geekdom, it's an actual language ;)

what is the difference between a Geek and a Nerd again...? it gets confusing when both are bandied about as insults...

Ozzy Osbourn since a geek is someone who bites the heads off animals (Ozzy did so to a dove and a Bat), and besides Ozzy is the only truely scary geek, unless you count the ones on the X-files.....

mmmm, scullly .....

oh and STFU Troller GAP.

The Furries who haven't devolve into Plushies tend to be mostly harmless, The furry quasi-suicidal whiners tend to be highly annoying.
