My first car was a 1977 'Lightweight' Land-Rover, that looked a bit like this;




Except mine was painted black (except where it was rusty). As an ex-army radio-truck it was fitted with 24 volt electrics, which tended to melt standard componants.
The first week after starting a new job, I managed to reverse it into one of my new work-mates' honda Civic, doing £1000 damage to his car, and possibly a small flake of paint missing from the rear bumper of the Land Rover...
I was once pulled over by the cops for driving at night without lights, I'd stupidly turned the knob the wrong way and was in 'stealthy' convoy mode (the street lights were bright enough that I hadn't noticed). There was also a 'night vision' mode, though the IR lights had been removed.
The thing had two fuel tanks, with a switch to swap between them. I once ran out of fuel and had to get a tow from a passing Range Rover to get home - only to later realise that I had plenty of fuel in the other tank (d'oh).
Refilling the tanks involved lifting the drivers and passengers seat cushions to get at the tanks underneith.
The brakes once failed when I was going down a steep hill, at the bottem were three cars, stationary while they waited to turn at the junction. No room to pass on the left, passing them on the right would result in me hitting the turning car, so after a half second of thought I aimed straight for the hedge - while my passenger screamed, as I hadn't had nearly enough time to warn him (he's now my manager at work).
Sigh, I miss it still.

All I have now is a boring old Vauxhall Cavalier, which replaced the Ford Sierra I wrote off when I flipped it on it's roof.

Standard transmission, 6 gear transmission (5 normal, 1 extralow), with a whooping 64 horsepower (so it could only reach 100 if it drove over a cliff) Good little stationwagon, it better last me through college!

My first car was an 85 Aries of nearly identical color to yours. My second car, bought a year later, was an 86 Aries... and the color was so close you had to see both next to each other to notice the difference...

An '86 Camry with a 95-hp (at its PRIME) engine and a distributor that was 5 degrees off for the last 4 years. When we finally fixed it, it was like I had dropped a turbo in there. So I figure I was running around 70 hp before that.

Now I've got a '97 Nissan 4x4, and I plan on hanging on to that for a very long time. It's my ideal vehicle: hauls lots of cargo, goes just about anywhere, and it only seats 2 so I don't have to drive hordes of car-less people around.

'54 Volkswagen, very Okie Fixed (Reinforced frame, brush/rock catcher under the front bumper) oversized tires, and other annoying mods. Can you believe I paid my mom a dollar for it as part of the legal transfer of a vehicle from Parent to offspring, allowed under DMV regulations.

I think that HE should be wary of loose women, you never know the milage or the quantity and quality of previous owners.
He should never walk near a tree with nesting magpies in it, lest he be dive bombed.
Nor should He attempt to play with skunks, lest he become the object of ridicule and a social pariah.

Had the AM/FM radio in the first one. I think the second may have actually had a tape player as well.
