Looks like the soldier in the picture is dying. His face is completely turned away from where the weapon is pointing and it looks like he's cringing (although it's difficult to make out), and his footing doesn't appear adequate to be firing a heavy weapon (his left foot is slipping). The soldier to the far left has his rifle pointed in the air for some reason.
