For the love of God. I'm far more offended by the stupid drug commercials that pimp "male enhancement" products and pills that let you deal with genital herpes than the .25 second flashing of Janet's breast. Oh, the Snowman (aka Bush) is going to have a field day with this one.

On the other hand, it happened to CBS, the network that has the worst sports coverage on the planet. Karma sure is a bitch!

My football team along with the rest of the SEC has the distinct misfortune of being covered by CBS. Their oh-so-poorly placed commercial breaks are momentum killers.

This was a stunt. Jackson's own people and Jackson herself had been hinting about "big surprises" during the halftime show. Well, no surprise performers showed up, there were no spectacles or incidents other than this one, so what could it possibly have been? And CBS is full of shit if they claim they didn't know it was going to happen--MTV and CBS are both owned by Viacom, and nothing gets planned by one division of Viacom for the biggest television event of the year without the division of Viacom that's actually airing it knowing about it. On the other hand, I do believe the NFL didn't know about it, and they're pissed off. They've already said they're not going to let MTV produce any more halftime shows, and I'll bet Paul Taglibou had a nice chat with some CBS bigwigs. The last thing the NFL wants is the halftime show to be a bigger story than the game, and they're probably turning purple that Janet Jackson's right titty is getting more column inches than one of the best Super Bowls of all time.

The best quote on the incident, this one from Allah:

"Another Super Bowl appearance like that and Janet will have exposed herself to more children than Michael."

The whole incident was about one has-been helping another has-been, who just happens to have a new album coming out, generate some free publicity.

Janet Jackson aside, I thought the halftime show stunk anyway. The good news is that the NFL now wants nothing to do with MTV doing the shows anymore.

It's a "nipple shield," the barbell piercing holds it in place. You can probably find better-looking examples on piercing sites.

Without question a stunt, although I suspect the audience saw more than they were intended to. It remains to be seen whether it'll make anyone care about Janet's new album any more than they have about the last two or three.

My prediction: watch for a congressional pay raise to be passed while the media is focused on the "media obscenity" hearings.
