I wonder what would happen if I sucked your blood...

Ofcourse when that stake is utterly ineffective... thats cool.

Wouldn't this question contradict itself, though, as both vamps and highlanders can be killed (thus negating immortality)?

Immortality is not invulnerability, though in some vamp cases it is.

But death is mortality.. Ability to be killed constitutes mortality and thus negates
immortality. Right?

You'd still go to school if you were a vampire? Now
that's scholastic dedication.
Of course! Eternal youth on a college campus; what's not to love?

You know, I'd rather be a prof than a student.

That way, I'd be able to hang around longer without arousing suspicion at some point.

I would have defined immortality as the ability to live forever barring something that could kill you ofcourse.

Even in the original novel, Dracula could go out in the sun. Really, Dracula seemed to be capable of a mostly normal life, if he had known how to go about it. Vampires may have more vulnerabilities than immortals, but they aren't being hunted at all times. I wouldn't want to live with the worry that someone could pull out a sword any time any where. Sunlight and hemophobia do not in my mind outweigh constant fear of attack. As long as you're careful, a vampire is safer. (Assuming of course we choose a nice literary vampire, as opposed to a vampire based on real folk beliefs)

If I can't choose the type of vampire and will get stuck with the traditional one, then I'd go with Highlander.
If I could choose the type of vampire, then I'd definetly choose to be a Shinso from Tsukihime.
Practically no weaknesses at all, immortal, immune to sunlight, do not need to drink blood to survive, can enjoy food and sex, and have enormous powers that rival or even surpass Alucard's---perhaps even Cain's.
The only visible difference would be the eyes, which are red and slitted. Contacts would fix that problem, and make me virtually indistinguishable from normal people.

I sure as fuck wouldn't want to be a vampire, because I'd have to die first and my soul would be damned.
This is of course going by classic vampirism, and not any of that Post-modern mumbo-jumbo BS.
I still choose Divinity.

Highlander, hands down.
You never get wrinkles, never have any permanent injuries, and you get to have all the sex you want with no worries about diseases or a bun in the oven.

That, and actually being able to move about in daylight rocks. Furthermore, not every immortal is out for your head. (hint: Darius, Fitzkin, Richie, etc.)

Highlander everytime. I already have a nice collection of Katana's and being a Highlander would give me the much over looked ability to carry one of these weapons in my coat without anyone noticing.

Highlander all the way. The reasons have been said by others before so I'll not repeat them.

Don't forget the reality-warping powers that Highlanders can gain (either through combat or study). That makes em pretty much level with the upper-tier vamps.

Vampire
1. Alucard like conditioning
2. Recruit your friends

and so much more

I'll say vampire.
I'm not big on sunlight anyway. Plus they don't get sick easily.
I could also theoretically get a following.

Oh if only that were possible..
Ok, here is what I do... I find the gene that codes for death(there MUST be one or more) I change/remove it... <insert massive genetic modification program here> and POOF! Instant vamp!
Or not

if your going to go to that much trouble doing it, here's my way:
integrate nanites into your system, gradually having them plate metal onto bones, reinforce muscles, increase internal organ efficency, etc.
Added bonuses:
No sunlight-weakness unless we're talkin about extreme photoelectric effect that would fry a human anyways.
Increased regenerative abilities depending upon the tech-level of the nanites (Andromeda has nanites that can regenerate lost limbs in a week or so, completely repair broken bones in a few days)
Metallic-plating of bones gives you a Wolverine-ish factor (plus your increased regenerative abilities!)
Plate additional metal in the right places & you can get claws, wristblades, bone-blades, whatever floats your boat.

For me....maybe Highlander?
The problem I have is...I have no desire, but between the two Highlander...while vampires have powers. I'm more then happy not to attract people looking to take down the newest baddest top dog to see how they rate
