Not arguing one way or antoher, but how do the holocaust supporters integrate the two separate EU visits post-ROTJ to the "Lush, Forest Moon"?

This book looks pretty sweet. Speaking of Saxton, was that him who just signed up here?

*If* the good Doctor was in Germany, then it's likely not him. I'm sure we'll find out when he posts.

Hmmm, his profile suggests its Saxton, but I am anxious to see his first post.

If it is him (or Poe can just forward this) I have a question.

When most of the other authors are writing books, they make a point to hype it up. You go to their sites and they have idea discussions, cover art, interviews, the works. Then after the books come out, the throw up a ton of stuff about it. Contrast that with Dr Saxton, who makes the NSA look like the local gossip woman. Not a word before hand, and only one slight mention of the book on his site. Why the difference? Is it a personal choice, to hold himself to a higher level of professionalism? Is it because they have independent sites and his is based off TFN? Is it in his contract since their work is only official and his is canon? I'm curious.

I'm back and Italy rules by the way.

Ender, I believe Curtis has already responded to you, but I think everyone would like to see his thoughts on the issues you brought up.

FYI....
No particular reason. Lots of little reasons.

When I agreed to do some work for DK, I set the condition that it
shouldn't impose any obligations on my web site. I won't compromise one
for the other. Publicity doesn't interest me as much as using the website
or the books as an opportunity to explore technical/continuity issues in
SW.

I rarely have enough time to complete the updates that I desire for my web site. I definitely don't have time to duplicate or cross-reference the
details that I may have influenced in DK's books. 18 months ago I shifted
from Australia to Germany; now I'm shifting to another job in England. I
don't have much time for rest and hobbies. :(

If I were to discuss my official SW projects during their development it
would look like an open invitation for trolls and trekkies of all types to
try to petition and persuade me. At present I don't even have enough time
to deal with website-related e-mail and supplications. I have more peace
when the public has no idea what short-term and long-term projects are
under development.

Finally, a SW book is announced on the Official Site. This usually
happens long after the book is finished and gone to the printers. By that
time I'm probably busy working on a newer project.

Years ago I signed a secrecy contract that forbids me from leaking
anything about forthcoming SW movies. Otherwise I continue my website
freely, using only the publically available sources. It's just a pity
that I don't have enough spare time.

I made a _special_ exception to respond to the distorted information about
ITW and the Endor holocaust. I could see that a few words in the press
release created an unnecessary panic. I was exasperated by that, since
I'd expended huge effort to ensure adequate (if sometimes ambiguous)
wording in the book. I would have quit the project and demanded anonymity for my role if the irrationalists had succeeded in inserting anything that gave the impression that Endor is "saved". I consider this a "red line" issue of intellectual integrity. Non-negotiable.

Bottom line: I am usually quiet because I can't afford to be drawn into
never-ending debates. Trolls are inexhaustible and self-propagating. I
am not. :(

Curtis.

Sorry, this is slightly off topic, but does anyone know if dr. Saxton is doing any work on the Episode III ICS? I don't think it has been mentioned anywhere.

EDIT: Oh, where in the EU is it mentioned that the battle above Endor continued for four hours after the destruction of the Death Star? IIRC, Heir of the Empire mentioned that captain Pellaeon ordered the retreat of the Imperial fleet, but does it say when?

What IS the fixation on this whole Endor wasn't devastated thing?
We know that the Rebels are the good guys who wouldn't want such a thing to happen, but there's a difference between good guys and omnipotent saints who can both destroy the DSII in an act of desparation and save Endor from the fallout.

I mean, is it so important to these people that Star Wars follow their inane brand of cartoon logic?

As Saxton put it, the Rebel fleet cannot possess them means to move the Death Star's mass-energy away from the Moon becuase then they could simply used that means against the Death Star itself.

And I don't really see the potential for installing a shield generator protecting at least half the Moon and towing away all major impactors (which were possibly moving at extreme velocities) while simultaneously fighting the Imperial fleet for another four hours.

Nice to see Pablo Hidalgo and Co. clinging to that hair like rapid vermin.
I could have seen it if the empire had a shield of similar strenght as to the one that protected the DS2 around Endor, because that was supposed to be a pretty damn powerfull shield.

Yes.

Anyone know if the models of the acclamator were sufficiently detailed that someone at the ranch might know the size of the main guns?

The WEG-Sourcebook to "Truce at Bakura" was the first source, that told about the fighting going on for four hours, IIRC.

And no, HttE doesn´t mention Pellaeon ordering a retreat. It says something like "Pellaeon, who had taken over command of the Chimera after the original captain had been killed had tried to hold the lines together until the order to retreat came."

Thanks for clearing that up, Fteik! I haven't read that many WEG sourcebooks, so I understand that I missed it.

That Pelleon gave the order came from later sources I believe.

The order came some time after Grand Admiral Teshik's Star Destroyer was disabled by ion cannon fire and captured by the Rebels. There was definitely loads of fighting still going on, seeing as most of the sector fleet was still intact.

Didn´t Teshik´s ISD continue to fight AFTER the order to retreat was given?

Official word is "September". My guess is it'll be about mid-month, right before the DVDs come out.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

On the TF.N boards, I asked the GA article writer, Dan Wallace, if Pellaeon retreated before or after Teshik's ship was captured. He responded that Pellaeon must have done so after the fleet commander was incapacitated.

Sounds like conjecture to me.

Pelleaon supposedly retreated as soon as his ship's captain was killed.

I asiked this a while ago, and checked the official site. It says September to coincide with the release of the trilogy. So I'd say September 21st. That said, I'm gonna pull every string I know to try and get an early copy. I'm going home in a week or so, and IIRC my friend Mike still works part time at Walden. See if he can sneak me a copy as soon as they get it.

If you succeed at getting one early, don't be a hog; share with the rest of us. We'll need all the details from the book as soon as you can get 'em.
