Why does the Empire not use LAAT/i or similar vehicles?

I used to be bothered by the idea of AT-AAs on Hoth because you can't see any in the long shots of the AT-AT attack. But then I realized that you can't see any AT-STs in those shots either, and the AT-ST is a good bit taller than the AT-AA.
So, it's simply a matter of the AT-STs and AT-AAs being off-screen during those shots.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

An AT-ST is only seen in a (at best) handful of close shots, and only one was pretty clear as I recall (though it has been a while since I've seen the movie, I'm running entirely off memory). AA fire was apparent, in amounts that I don't think even fire from the AT-ATs light blasters accounts for. The Imperials would have had to have fielded a specialized unit, and the AT-AA would fit the role (I think the AT-STs would have been concentrating on the entrenched infantry).
There are two kinds of people in the world: the kind who think it’s perfectly reasonable to strip-search a 13-year-old girl suspected of bringing ibuprofen to school, and the kind who think those people should be kept as far away from children as possible … Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between drug warriors and child molesters.” - Jacob Sullum
