Actraiser. Need to get some old-school in there. :P

while actraiser was a very kickass game, i don't think there's a whole lot of room with it to make it into any type of spectacular film that isn't already covered by a dozen other fantasy films out there.

Ghost Recon would make a kick ass movie too, along with Rainbow Six. Think of it as a dualogy.

Meh. 'WHOA TEH 1337 COMMANDOZ!' stopped being amusing sometime a decade or two ago.

Why? Bond is as amusing as then, Arinie is usually as amusing as then, Resident Evil was fun, this kind of shit has a place.

Zepplins and crazy flying... What are we waiting for?

Counter-terrorists vs Enviro-terrorists (Rainbow Six)? Yes, please...

Warcraft III - Blizzard's obviously dying to make it anyway, judging by the game's cutscenes. Gotta admit it would be kickass(past time someone challenged LOTR for the "modern fantasy" movie crown).

Starcraft - ditto, and proably cooler.

KOTOR - While it would be tricky, I'd LOVE to see the Ebon Hawk's crew out on the big screen. Just so long as Tony Shaloub is HK....

Jedi Knight series - while JK1 seems more suited, my preference goes to JKII, simply because JK1 IS a movie already....

Baldur's Gate 2 - if they can make this puppy a novel, they can make it a movie. Ditto for NWN(though I don't know of a novelization of that one - anyone who does, fanmade or otherwise?).

RA2 - it's not to see more of Wuher! Honest! Though really, that would be a classic popcorn movie, with Verhoeven at the wheel(the guy behind Starship Troopers - awesome movie).

Gabriel Knight - probably the first, since the second's a movie as it is. Good suspense, good plot. But who acts? While it might be amusing to have Hamill do Mosely again, I doubt he'd pull it off well. Curry's too damn old to look like Gabe. Hmm....

The Summoning. It was a fantasy game that came out in the early 1990s, and one of the best games ever. It would make for a kick-ass movie.

Also, I second the Freespace series.

I third Freespace and HW, those games(3) HAVE to be made into movies, HW IS allready half a movie.

Morrowind if done properly would be LOTR scale, but would rule.

Deus Ex is getting made into a movie IIRC.

Far Cry would also rule, come on...action science fiction?

As for the patterning a mind and the en-mass cloning. Yeah, like that hasn't been done to death.

There is no real good plot behind the game. It's not movie material.
The characters could be created. And the Core and Arm commanders are already characters, except they never speak. Give them voices and create bunch of other characters, and it could work.

Planescape: Torment would make a great movie. Horde of amusing characters and lots of eye candy.

IRG, that begs the question of /why/ use the Total Annihilation universe if you create ever last bit of characterization, effects, etc out of whole cloth?

I second the Alpha Centauri suggestion, and The Elder Scrolls too. Well, maybe not Arena, but Daggerfall, Redguard, or Morrowind would work great and I expect Oblivion will as well.

GTA3 would be cool. That's got a pretty good story to it (Vice City would be Scarface with more cars).

Starcraft and Warcraft also have a lot of potential.

And I wouldn't mind a MegaMan movie, either. MegaMan X seems to have the "deeper" story as far as MegaMan stories go, though.

Fleet Command/Harpoon/whatever. I just want a kick ass movie involving the Navy fighting. The real Navy, not just some Top Gun/SEALs crap. :D

The problem with this sort of thing is that, on the offchance that a movie is made from a beloved game, the chances are very, very good that it'll end up some Hollywood hack and desecrate things. I'd rather see movies made from relatively mediocre games to get Hollywood on their feet in the conversion. That, and I'd like to see a bit of reciprocity for Warner Brothers' royalty-scaled-to-review-scores bit, so that people who make, say, Mario Brothers, or Wing Commander movies end up paying massive chunks of change and making almost no money in the process.

Simple; because the military tech is awesome.

And I'd love to see them try to make a GTA movie with the main character saying nothing just like in GTA 3.

So basically you want exactly what I'd said before. Your average action flick with the name "Total Annihilation: The Movie" slapped on it.

Besides, the movie would bomb anyway. The game is pretty unknown.

Argh...why would the movie bomb? Even if it is unknown it does not immediately rule out everyone who hasn't played the game. If anything it would increase the popularity of the game.

The movie would have practically no relations to the game short of the tech and the general "Yeah, there's been a really big war going on, one side clones, the other side imprints their minds... yeah." plot. The movie would bomb because most directors would go "What the hell am I supposed to do with this? There's no real conflict. Hell the people don't even talk or have personalities that we know of."

All you've said so far is "OMG TA is an amazing game so it'll be a great movie!!" It would take an amazing director to make that movie any good and even then they'd have to change it so much to get a viable plot that they'd practically be making an all new universe and putting the TA name on it.
