Maybe the use of Heavy Turbolasers might be some form of excalation of a conflict ,like the use of nuclear weapons here on eath.
The clone army didn't use them on geonosis and maybe the seperatist woun't use them on corucant because maybe they would lose the support of most of the worlds they consist of. (this is completetly wild and unfounded speculation)

Actually that's pretty astute, several of us have raised that point regarding Geonosis before. Asking why they didn't just smash the entire battlefield from orbit is similar to saying "why doesn't the US just nuke Fallujah."

In any case, I see no reason to be concerned about anything. We already know that a little one-man ship can obliterate asteroids that dwarf a Star Destroyer; it's not like anything in ROTS is going to go back in time and erase that fact, so it's not as if ROTS is going to somehow retroactively "weaken" SW firepower. I honestly think these concerns are silly. No matter what they show, it has to be rationalized in a manner consistent with previous films, not made to "override" them by virtue of being the most recent movie.
