Well, my mother always carries a spare set of clothes around, because she thinks
her ex-husband is always trying to poison her, and that people are stalking
her, listening in on the phones, breaking things around the house, etc

Ah a female version of my paranoid twit of a friend.

Though she probably has more balls then he does...the boy will literally do if the woman promises to give him a peck on the cheek(she wants say a Latte...he'll drive 20 miles to the nearest Starbucks to ge what she wants instead of another companies latte)

Wow. I don't whether to call the state mental hospital to come take your parents away or share...

My mom has a thing about shirts that are inside out. While this is normal to some degree, she is adamant that before you correct the problem you have to do the following:

1) take off the shirt and put it on the floor
2) stomp on it with your feet and say something in Ukrainian
3) put the shirt (correct this time) back on. Now it's okay.

I've never been able to figure it out.

Dad kind of thinks that UFO's have something to do with our origins. Otherwise, I think my family is fairly normal.

My wife's grandmother (from her dad's side) is a prominent shaman. Does that count?

Well, I think I know why that's done. You see, it is a common Slavic supertition that if you put a shirt inside out, you will get beat up (don't ask). So, by stomping the shirt, your mother might be "beating it up", so that it won't happen to you. (i.e. the curse was fulfilled, although it's not a curse)

Weird, but true. :?

HAve a very nice day.

Thanks fgalkin! I'll ask her about it. One mystery down, more to go.

I'm sure the shirt thing has something to do with pre-christian slavic religious beliefs. I just can't remember the refrences right now.
[edit] Damn you guys are fast! *looks at above posts*

Wow... After seeing all your stuff, I'm beginning to think I have a half-normal family... Lets see, my Paternal Grandmother is a Moderate Christian, my Father is a Hindu porn addict and a control freak who never admits they're wrong. But then again, what parent doesn't do that? My Mom isn''t very religious... She's either Agonistic, Atheist, or undecided... Um, uh, yeah... Thats about it
