The second track is always my favorite (the one with the heavy percussion sound). Does it have a title?

Let's see. Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries (track 18 really knocks my socks off), Battlezone, Medieval: Total War, Total Annihilation, C&C series.

Perhaps the most distinctive soundtrack is in Interstate '76. That funk is just awesome!

Digital Devil Saga has some good music.. but then that game has everything from devouring your enemies to Titania, Queen of the Fairies threatening to ram a sugar key up your ass.

Good gawd! </James Brown>

After listening to it, I am compelled to say that the soundtrack for Katamari Damacy has quite possibly some of the most catchiest and ingenious songs I have ever heard. I am absolutely in love with this stuff.

Neat use of voice synthesis, btw. My favorite piece from the OST is Lonely Rolling Star.

Funny thing is, I've never played the game.

You know I'd finally gotten the music from that game to stop runnning through my head all the time... and you just ruined it. AGH! Make it stop!

It's damn catchy.. and i've gotten more than one odd look when I started singing it to myself without noticing.

Just wonder: anyone remember the in-game music from Digger?

My top 10.

In no order.

C&C Tiberium Dawn / Tiberium Sun / Red Alert I
Freespace 1 and 2
Mechwarrior 2 series + Mechwarrior 4 series
Tie Fighter / X-Wing
Half Life
Dune II
Homeworld 1 + Cat
HALO
Dark Forces
Descent series.

Those IMO are the finest examples of music around. Its a pity that so many of them, made back in the early 90's, have not been duplicated. The imersive atmosphere of some of these scores could do more for me then half the games these days. I mean my interest in Battletech stems completly from the Mechwarrior games and how they just sucked me in like a black hole. Tie Fighter is something I still build an older comptuer for, just so I can play it, screw XVT or XWA....

*sigh*

There are also dozens of notable mentions from that time period, but thats my top ten.
