I always though that Gekiganga was a bit more than that. If you notice in the anime, there are two groups of people. The people of Nadesico, who are always trying their best and filled with hope and idealism, and the military commanders, who are jaded and single minded, only looking at things through their ultra-strict perspective. As part of the theme for Nadesico, the crew are doing their best to be heros, but they can't always save the day. Gekiganga was pretty much the embodiment of their idealistic spirit, a spirit that many have lost, and seek to regain. However, in the end even that can be twisted by those in power to manipulate people to their own ends.data_link wrote:
- metaphor for anime otakuism.
- foreshadowing device.
- a parody of uber-gaint robot anime in general.
- as for the specific anime it's based off of, I couldn't tell you, but it's most likely a combination of several.
Nitpick: Inu-Yasha is half dog demon. I looked it up and the dictionary said it meant female dog demon. He's also black-haired (when not in demon form).IG-88E wrote:I like Inuyasha! He's so badass! (and he's a wolf! arooooo!) And Kagome is a very sweet person, the kind of girl you want to spent time around.
I love that show, it's got a great mix of humor, emotion, and kickass sword fighting!
Masta Yoshi, could you give me a synopsis of Inuyasha?Darth Yoshi wrote:Nitpick: Inu-Yasha is half dog demon. I looked it up and the dictionary said it meant female dog demon. So, Gekiganger is a metaphor for religion.Yogi wrote:I always though that Gekiganga was a bit more than that. If you notice in the anime, there are two groups of people. Remember the two differing interpretations of Gekiganga. One was that it was about love and passionm striving towards peave. The other was that it meant to destroy the evil enemy.
Nadesico != Nabisco. Nadesico, IIRC, is the name of a japenese flower. An infidel wrote:Nabisco! That's it!
So, what, are the anime makers getting so desperate they must now rip off cracker corporations? What's next, 'Starship Pepsi'? Or maybe 'McDonalds Presents: Starship Pepsi'?
Unfortuantely, we can't tell when you're being sarcastic.Cyril wrote:I'm joking. Relax. I enjoy anime as well.
Evidently not. Sorry.Unfortuantely, we can't tell when you're being sarcastic
Maybe because it's the first major anime movie made? Maybe because the subject matter is so oddly enthralling? (Must have laser rifle, flying paltform, SOL Orbital Bombardment Satellite and psychic pwoers...)Yogi wrote:Another Anime question. Why do people idolize the movie Akira?
I mean, I have trouble thinking that people actually like the movie for reasons besides pure shock value, and people are saying it's the mose revolutionary anime movie ever made! Why?
You think I care about post count? (Well, alright, maybe a little)Evil Sadistic Bastard wrote:Masta Yoshi, could you give me a synopsis of Inuyasha?
EDIT: Oh, and I 0wnz jo0 wrt postcount.
Hmmm. Nope, you've summed it up pretty well.Darth Yoshi wrote: Synopsis: The series is about a young girl named Kagome, who is somehow transported into medieval Japan. She finds and frees a half demon named Inu-Yasha, who had been sealed away by a priestess named Kikyo some 50 yrs. earlier. It is revealed that Kagome may be the reincarnation of Kikyo, and this is confirmed when the Shikon no Tama, which was burned when Kikyo died, is pulled out of Kagome's body. Kagome accidentally shatters the jewel, and she and Inu-Yasha have to team up to retrieve the pieces, which were scattered over at least Japan.
That's basically what the story is. Anybody who can summarize it better, do so.
08th MS Team because the characters actually feel real. Nobody is stereotyped, everyone's three-dimensional, and then there is the godly might of Norris Packard and the Apsalus III. (Falls to knees in reverent worship)IG-88E wrote:In your opinion, what's the best Gundam series and why?
Hmmm I'll check Kagome out...Darth Yoshi wrote:You think I care about post count? (Well, alright, maybe a little)Evil Sadistic Bastard wrote:Masta Yoshi, could you give me a synopsis of Inuyasha?

Cooking Master Boy was really cheesy. Ordinarily I don't have any worst anime lists (I try to give everyone a break) but the crappiest anime in existence Cooking Master Boy. It ended halfway, the show was so fucking ridiculous, the only thing good was the food. And even that was way too over the top for me.Yogi wrote:What is the WORST anime you have seen?
For me personally, nothing can compared to the crap that is Cooking Master Boy. I could not last through one episode. It was just . . . .GRRRAAHHH!!!
Combine the cheesiest elemets of Dragon Ball Z and Iron Chef, and you get
Cooking Master Boy.
For some reason I prefer the Tenchi girls.Evil Sadistic Bastard wrote:[Homer] Mmm... Naru...Kitsune...Motoko...Shinobu...Mmm...[/Homer]IG-88E wrote:Hey, there's nothing wrong with that! They're hot!Evil Sadistic Bastard wrote:That's right, I watch anime for the girls!![]()
