Take an Excelsior hull, scrape out the guts and throw most of that shit away, then fill it with Imperial-tech innards. Slap some quad-laser ball turrets here and there, a decent shielding system, and maybe some concussion missiles. Give it a respectable punch for a ship of it's size, but don't go fucking crazy with the HTL's and the wank. If I wanted a warship, I wouldn't be refitting a stone-age hull.
The question is, why am I doing this? If I'm Jabba the Hutt or whatever, and I want a kickass yacht for my personal pleasure, it would be a hell of a lot simpler just to buy one. If I'm really attached to the stereotypical "duck with a frisbee head" Trek starship design, it would still be cheaper just to show a Star Wars shipbuilder a picture of the Excelsior and tell him to build me a yacht that looks like this.
At least then I won't have to worry about whether the hull is going to break apart under the strain of much more powerful systems than it was built for, or where the hell I'm going to get replacement parts for anything I didn't toss out.

Cut him a little slack, the orignal objective of the thread is to soup up a ST ship, not to talk about power levels. I mean knowing that info will help but isnt necesary ( you don't need that kind knowledge to say you wan't to bang a TL on the enteprise). Bounty, for some help i remember that in the main site somwhere mentioning that the entire US uses 600 gigawatts (i may e wrong) so a fed ship does generate a lot of power, but nothing in comparison to a SW ship.If you are so fucking ignorant of power figures that you need to ask the question, then you have no business poking your nose in any thread discussing power levels in the first place. It's like somebody leaping into a debate about UNIX vs Windows on server farms when he doesn't even know the difference between RAM and HD.
Just a question. what would happen if somone used a phaser with SW power generation?
Me personally: I would grab myself a defiant and wack on a few light TLs, two concusion missile launchers, and some anti fighter proton torpedo launchers. keep the transporter for easy cargo transferral (and conveniantly beaming food and other things to my quaters). I would probably keep the cloaking device (beats not having one) but also attach some wars jamming tech aswell. I would make areas especcialy for cargo storage. I will then get the best hyperdrive money can buy and a good shield generator. after all that I will set up my own smuggling buisness.
Borg Cube, hollow it out, hide a few warships and an Interdictor in it, go pirating.
My victims see me, think I'm a left over Borg cube, and start laughing.
The Interdictor powers up, jamming goes up, and the Borg 'cube' withdraws plants and opens fire with Imperial Heavy Turbolasers.
And any survivors point to the Borg, not standard warships.

First thing to do would be to lower the saucer and nacelles. Then install on the nacelles hydraulics that will raise and lower them, and bounce them forwards and backwards and from side to side. Then make it so that the saucer can do that as well as raise up and start to spin on its axis.
Place on the bottom of the ship neon lighting that will illuminate anything under the ship. Then in engineering, install multi-colored neon lighting that can’t be seen unless you open up the warp core.
Then install throughout the ship thousands of sub-woofers and speakers, and lots of console game systems with large flat-screen monitors as well as small ones installed in the headrests of all seats on the ship.
Get a body kit installed and a custom paint and decal job to finish it off.
Then higher a crew of beautiful women, make the uniform those slutty ‘catholic school girl uniforms’, and have Xzibit showcase it on the series premiere of 'Pimp my Starship'.

Very nice *has numerous thoughts of very attractive women in slutty catholic school girl uniforms*, wait a second that sounds like some of the nights out where I live (Torquay in the UK)Anomie wrote:Take a stock Galaxy-class

Love the idea of a games console connected to a large flatscreen, an XBOX360 would look great on the bridge

Oh hell, who am I kidding? Get the Sovereign, fill in the hangar bay with all the equipment that normally fits in the 6 decks below the bridge. Then, leave the bridge dome there, whack a nice turret of some variety in or something. Then, in the space left, add the god-mother of all bridges, the Command Cathedral.
Add a generous helping of sheilds and uprate the main weapons slightly. (Light Turbolasers + Ions?) Down the side of the engineering hull, add Invisible Hand weapons (the shell-firing ones) for a good 10-15 gun broadside.
Add hyperdrive, re-inforce hull etc.
Finally, add a few imperial logos on the ship's hull. (British or Galactic, either's fine). Go on a tour of Federation worlds, and Imperialise. Yess.

I think I'd have to go with whatever class Reliant was. (Miranda?)
According to this book I've got, called Ships of the Star Fleet (apparently an attempt to produce a Star Trek Naval Review type publication, and seemingly not entirely in concert with Canon) Reliant had 2 Multidirectional phaser cannons (the ones we see firing the first time she fires at Enterprise in STII), 6 twin phaser mounts, and a weapons pod (the thing above the main hull) with 2 fore and 2 aft torpedo tubes.
I'd upgrade the shields to, say Nebulon B strength, add a hyperdrive and thrusters, computers, basically replace all the guts.
Weapons, i'd replace the MDPCs with ion cannons, the regular phasersw with MTLs, and the weapons pod with proton torpedoes, fore and aft. Fill it out with some Millenium Falcon style emplacements for point defense, say 4 above and 4 below the hull.

I know there isn't enough room (let alone power) in Miranda to mount 6 dual MTLsSVPD wrote:I think I'd have to go with whatever class Reliant was. (Miranda?)

As for not enough room, I'm looking at the twin MTL on the Venator in the ICS and given the 1,100 meter length of the Venator, they can't be that big.

wrong, most of the turret in hiden under the surface of the ship (those things have such recoil that tear the ship apart if not properly braced) also Miranda is only between 200-300 meters in length so a MTL turret could need huge sections of ship to mount but look really small on the VnSD.SVPD wrote:Maybe you missed the part about removing the guts and replacing them.Lord Revan wrote:I know there isn't enough room (let alone power) in Miranda to mount 6 dual MTLsSVPD wrote:I think I'd have to go with whatever class Reliant was. I'm aware of the recoil issue.Lord Revan wrote:wrong, most of the turret in hiden under the surface of the ship (those things have such recoil that tear the ship apart if not properly braced) also Miranda is only between 200-300 meters in length so a MTL turret could need huge sections of ship to mount but look really small on the VnSD.
However 243 meters is not exactly microscopic compared to 1100 meters., and since we're refitting this thing with all new insides anyhow, there shouldn't be a huge problem.
Of course, I could go for an Excelsior hull, too.

well you probaly know what the Bozeman looked like, take 6 of it's turrets and slap them into the saucer of the Miranda and pretty much have basic look of you plan (as there's no way you could have a fully internal MTL on a Miranda).SVPD wrote:I'm aware of the recoil issue.Lord Revan wrote:wrong, most of the turret in hiden under the surface of the ship (those things have such recoil that tear the ship apart if not properly braced) also Miranda is only between 200-300 meters in length so a MTL turret could need huge sections of ship to mount but look really small on the VnSD.

I'd say a Nebula is better (as it has better length to volume ratio being to the GCS what the Miranda was to the refit connie.Of course, I could go for an Excelsior hull, too.
