Can you try loading them in the reverse order?
If it doesn't work it looks like it might have worked before 1.91 because it's in the FAQ. Pretty much makes the entire ground combat system in Adamant useless. I can see what they were trying to do. Make combat last a few turns, maybe ten turns (a year) with those siege fortifications.
On the bright side looks like all you need to blockade a planet is drop a few siege troops on it...

I can give it a try, sure. Be back in a moment...
Edit: Tried it. Only difference is that some of the leaders died this time. The defenders were still untouched.

Hm. Can you try not using those siege fortifications and rather troops with pure armor on them?
Maybe those siege fortifications are "leaky" for some reason...
<edit>Maybe if you make pure armor troops, but with one gun. Maybe if they have no guns, they don't get targeted at all.</edit>

I'll give it a shot...

Yeah, I'm thinking the units aren't targetting unarmed OPFOR.

Okay, I tried it. It didn't work perfectly, but it was an improvement. The good new is my small army of 280 30k tanks successfully conquered the planet. It took me over a thousand troops to conquer a planet of the same size before, and I lost a quarter of my forces.
The bad news is that it took me well over a year of game time. It in fact took almost two and half years. Also, while I was losing armored troops from the start, the attack troops were the first to go. In the end, I was left with 49 of my armored troops with one tiny gun and two leaders. And oh yeah, the people are rioting.

Just by the by guys I'll be in on this one too.

Hm that's the thing about this mod too. Troops don't improve happiness. You'll have to keep your fleet in orbit and shuttle in a lot of porn for that

.
So don't think you can lower happiness to 50% and get away with it by making 100 police troops like in the ST game peeps, it doesn't work

.
Two and a half years is a damn long time. Might as well glass the planet, or if you can't glass it drop fifty of those 30 kT siege fortifications and have the planet in chaos.

Sounds like it works just the way it's supposed to, then. Conquering a planet is no joke in Adamant.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that they do. Where'd you get this idea from?

Ooops I was looking at the
16.00 version dev thread. I guess police troops might still work in 15.04.

They do, thankfully. The setup they're talking about there sounds like a massive pain in the ass to keep people happy...
Edit: It should probably be noted that during my last experiment with conquering planets, that it wouldn't have taken as long if I didn't lose all the attack troops. Once there was nothing left to fight but the armor troops who have only one tiny gun, things slowed to a crawl.
Have we agreed on 5k empire points? I've got my empire file all ready to go if so, and I must say I'm exceedingly pleased with it.
Oh, BTW, do we know who Dust is yet?

Alright. We got 8 people. Remember, 5K race points. Be sure to link the shipset you may be using too.
But who is Dust and Captain Booyah? Do you know them?
Edit: Oh. Here's my shipset. Be sure to install it!

Could always open up more slots if there's more interested. I remember Kijiro and one of Guppy's friends.
You could send a message to everybody in Admin options (including Dust and Booyah) probably ask them who they are. And tell them about the 5k empires, and game settings if they're not SD.net deizens.

Booyah is Gups friend. We don't know who Dust is. Somebody who didn't realize that this was a private game, I guess.

Dust isn't one of us. I noticed him on the game forum talking about uploading a proportions empire.

Tobor and Kojiro will also want to play.
Kojiro is custom-building a shipset. It is going to be awesome.
Tobor will use one of the ones on the site, I think, he was undecided last I saw him.
I've modified an existing one (just thrashing it out single player while everybody gets ready).
CaptBooyah is probably going to use this one:

I believe CaptBooyah is waiting on his SD.net account to activate as well.

Oh yes. Yes it will.
INSIGNIFICANT WORMS!
Ahem. Tobor I believe wants to put together a Protoss set.

The Kryptonian Enclave, Gups? Should we make sure never to fight you in a system with a yellow star?

My bet is on a +30% ground combat zealots and god-like ground combat for the Kryptonians.
I don't blame them, I plan to do the same. It takes a couple hundred points to go up to 150%, and if everybody goes down to 50%... well people, you're in for an ass spanking hahaha.
<edit>I thought of a way to drastically speed up ground combat too. Build 100 small vessels each with one cargo bay and one "mothership" with most of your troops. Now hopefully, the "mothership" drops first. Then as the reinforcements land, you'll get 100x the number of ground combats that you normally do in a turn because every time you drop to reinforce it starts it up again!

You'll need to make sure the mothership drops first somehow though...</edit>

Make sure the mothership has more combat movement points than the smaller ships. I'm sure that can be pulled off easily enough.

I booted Dust in favor of Tobor.

You can increase the number of players in the admin options

.
<edit>As for making sure the mothership lands first, it might be a little trickier. Maybe if you make the mothership the leader and use a formation where the leader is in front. If not... and if you make the smaller ships too slow, they'll slow down your entire war fleet.</edit>
<edit 2>Actually you don't even need to make a lot of smaller ships, if you make all your warships general purpose and set their strategy properly to capture planet primary and something else secondary. If you have 100 warships, the mothership will land eventually and even if it's only faster than half they'll be 50+ combats, five years worth of combats. If you're using missiles though usually missiles use maximum range primary and don't get hurt secondary so I'm not sure if it'll make missile fleets less effective. Overall, making your fleet general purpose will make it less warmongering if only by a little bit. There's no real way to capture planets without making your warships less capable or straddled with a less than optimal strategy.</edit 2>
<edit 3>You don't even need to use a cargo bay. You can use the "recon" satellite bay, minimal storage enough to load I think 10 kT...</edit>
<edit 4>I'm half thinking of taking an organic race just because of this component,
...now put let's say twenty of these on, and twenty armors, and you can have an invinciship! But alas, you need to have Applied Evolution 15, the highest, and it goes up 50k per level... but if the game lasts a long time, definitely this is worth it. You have to have the "inherent regeneration" racial trait and be organic to get it, and the trait only gives you this one component as far as I can tell.
</edit>
<edit 5>
If anybody is thinking of going Deeply Religious, if you want this component,
You need life, death and war ethos (this is the toned down Religious Talisman from Stock, 30% is still brutal).
</edit>

by Trogdor
Yeah, that's the only thing you get from taking the inherent regeneration trait. I don't get your invinciship idea, though. It's a crew quarters that doubles as a repair component. It doesn't repair stuff during combat or anything.
And yes, the Talisman of Zeal is brutal. I strongly considered going deeply religious for that and the Talisman of Fate, which adds a defense bonus that stacks with the ECM. I think you only need the life ethos to get that, but I could be wrong.

by brianeyci
Hmm silly me I thought it repaired stuff in combat.
The combat bonuses are
http://adamant.spaceempires.net/docs/Combat_Bonuses , I might go for the maximum combat bonuses and choose mechanoids, and life, war, death...
...the only thing that's bothering me is how SMALL the large galaxy is. I mean, with 10 players, the maximum number of systems is only 100! That sucks. Can we change it to 255?
