Why are you bringing this up when a man's life is on the line? This does not make sense. :)

The biggest brain bug that bothers me regarding Thrawn was the studying of art. Don't get me wrong, art may reveal quite a bit about the artist and his culture, but sorting out which is which and how significant they are even in a single piece can be very difficult. It's also questionable to what degree those observations reflect the viewer rather than the artist.

There are ways around that of course. The simplest would be to posit that Thrawn did study standard intelligence reports, psychological/cultural studies, and so on, and he studied art as confirmation of certain patterns and as a aid to assuming his opponents' mind-set to better understand their thinking processes.
Of course the flip side is true if you do a bit of thinking

By that I mean, Sure he may learn something from the art, But what if its just somthing else to add to his legend eh? The question is rasied a few times in the books and unansred about if Thrawn acutal IS learning anything or just looking at the pretty paintings(Or an excellent cover for the fact he a art lover but I don't think he could get it on the ship otherwise unless it was justified)

Think of it this way
If you met a Captian who just beat up a enemy three times his number and strength who asks you if he can load his ship up with art you might say yes or no

But if you find a Captian with a ship full of art who did the same thing but claims he did it because he got insight from the artwork then you(unless your an idiot) gonnna let him keep them and maybe get him some Early Luke Skywalker finger paintings for him to study

Probably more to add to his infamous mind.

Honestly, he won through cunning and tactics with a dash psych skills...even though Zahn brought it up I doubt this waw the cornerstone of what made Thrawn better than the other Grand Admirals.

Grand Admirals could do whatever the hell they please, Thrawn could get his interstellar collection of boogers and ear wax on board the ship as long as he held his rank and kept producing results.

The art was mostly holographic replications also, most crewmen were allowed to keep small holos as part of their personal belongings and the officers with larger quarters were probably allowed to furnish them as they see fit (within their budget of course)

I hated how every other planet used to have a Dark Jedi just sitting around waiting for a hero to show up and try to foil their evil plan.

Whoever first said that the Executer was 5sm/8km long should be drug out onto the street and shot. All those who repeated the error should be shot as well, but not in such a public fashion as the first guy.

How could some primitive creature that live in the stone age defeat a legion of stormtroopers supported by AT-STs?

I always hated that part!
Because the battle on the surface was but three squads of that legion...you will find that was only but a handful of the actual troops on planet....the rest were guarding the 'front' door

Bah..cannot edit?

Anyway. Bio shit...ew..just ew...

Biological opponents has been done to death in -every- sci-fi...(as in ones that use living technology that is inherantly superiour to everything ever designed by the best and the brightest of thousands of races...maybe it was an interesting side plot the first time it was showed in a sci-fi but when every tom, dick and harry start packing them....it gets just a little rediculous)

Well just look at the numbers onscreen in the film...they can't dispose of an entire legion..(at least as quickly they took out the resistance there) and then when the bunker sealed and such forcing Han to use the decoy via at-st, they send three squads...if their legion had been wiped out, how did they have squads to spare just like that?

(either that or I'm talking rubbish and can't count :) or they had far more on planet than was let on)

Here are some possible brain bugs (apologies for any repeats) that come from the actual movies (and or/novelisations of the movies):

All Jedi wear Tatooine-style desert robes in the Republic times (except Anakin of course, 'cause he's evil).

The lightsaber is the only weapon of the Jedi (at least they carry utility belts under their robes though).

Jabba the Hutt is not unique, in fact there is a race called "The Hutts" who are all fat, slimey and crimelords (they got this from the EU of course, only the ROTJ novelisation disagrees).

Stormtroopers all/only carry the Blastech-E11 rifle (and of course, can't aim).

Blue and green are good guy lightsaber colors, red is a bad guy lightsaber color (granted, we've got Mace Windu, and George's explanation, but still.. only four lightsabers in the classic trilogy, divided among three people, and now the entire galaxy has only those three colors!)

Putting a helmet with a "blast shield" (whatever that is) down on a person's head and giving them a lightsaber to play with a "remote" is standard Jedi training procedure.

Jawas are all sleezy/borderline trusthworthy used-droid salesmen and junk dealers.

Sandpeople are all Tusken Raiders (ie: fierce bandits who terrorize the non-Tusken populance when given the chance... except for the women and children of course).

Tatooine is the center of the universe, despite its "backwater" status (then again, the major characters are from there or majorly connected to it in some way, so I guess it makes sense).

Then there's all the ridiculous interconnectedness of characters, but I guess it makes sense in an Arthurian way, so I'll let those go. ; )

Note: I'm not bashing the movies, just pointing out what I see are brain bugs, from the classic trilogy to the special editions and prequels.

Incidentally, I always figured that the troops on Endor were dispersed throughout the forest moon. They had no way of really knowing (sort of prescience, which is debatable) exactly WHERE and HOW MANY rebels would try to get in to attack the shield generator. So they probably had to station them all over, and perhaps they'd had run ins with the ewoks before and had to strengthen certain areas.

There may have been other industries there other than the generator station(s) themselves (and they'd need more to keep all those troops supplied).

How long were the troops there? Obviously they had to have somebody there during construction, etc. So it may have been a long term presence, or these troops may have been brought in at the last minute to augment previous guard stations.

They're supposed to be "an entire legion of my best troops" but that's not to say they're the only Imps on site.

Btw, my above Stormtrooper comment probably applies more to the EU/games than it does the classic trilogy, but, the most variety we see among Stormie weapons IS in ANH. In AOTC, they (as clonetroopers) all use the same guns, albeit its a different gun than the standard one we see elsewhere.

Oh, and maybe I can add this one (although it's just a Lucas quote, not in any actual movie):

All stormtroopers are clones.. (maybe even of the same person, maybe even of Jango Fett!)

Theres no reason all stormtroopers can't be clones, it would explain the standards in height and why Leia first said "Aren't you a little short for a stromtrooper?"

Just because the EU talks about stormtrooper recruits doesn't mean it happened. It makes sense since the Republic has this large clone army, once they become the EMpire the clones become the stormtroopers and function as a separate part of th eImperial Army. COnscripts probably make up the standard Army and Fleet regiments, It makes sense since the stormtroopers are supposed to have unquestionable loyalty, why would a forced conscript be overly loyal?

That doesn't need to be explained. Luke is short! Its original owner was taller.

Stormtroopers all/only carry the Blastech-E11 rifle (and of course, can't aim).
1# There are those big tubular rifles that were seen in ANH.
2# Most army's have a standard assault rifle and most troops carry that assault rifle.
Putting a helmet with a "blast shield" (whatever that is) down on a person's head and giving them a lightsaber to play with a "remote" is standard Jedi training procedure.
What is wrong with this one. The idea is, as I understand it, to learn how to trust the force, rather then just eyeball mk1 and for that the training makes perfect sense.

no one, but many of them are, standard Imperial practice. Kyp Durron's brother Zeth for example.

I was merely speculating on that because if all stormtroopers were clones and were the same size, Leia might have noticed Luke's height and realized that every other stormtrooper is the same size except for him.
