Anyone here ever read Nexus or The Badger?
I read the Badger some in the 80s and it was one of the funniest superhero books.
Nexus was cool. He was stuck hunting down and killing mass murderers. Not PC, which may be why the Nexus cartoon never found enough backing despite how Spawn did on HBO.

Well the religous version has now...well...something to happened to her which PD has yet to tell us more than she's not here.
And yes I like the animated version...ah a tight T-shirt and mini skirt

Nexus was cool...Spawn just got a cartoon because McFarlane pushed for it harder than DH does.

It's been awhile since I've seen anything on the net about it but I think Mike Baron was really set on the Nexus cartoon keeping the part about killing mass murders and that was what people had a problem with since some of the goofier stuff in Nexus could certainly lend itself to a kid's show.

I've got that collection too and I think I saw the comic cover with the two Supergirls at the bookstore. I didn't know they had merged though.
I didn't particularly care for Supergirl with the Flame Wings and Flame Vision. It was getting to far from Supergirl for me and too religious. Hopefully some of that has been fixed/changed now.
It's Peter David, I have great faith in his ability to sort out any problems. D'oh, just remembered Young Justice (maybe I should have just written down "Anything by Peter David, even his shopping list and Kindergarten fingerpaintings." when I compiled my list

)

Yeah Peter David is a great writer...and I understand why he was heated at Marvel and their deciding to screw over Hulk.
Still love reading his stuff...and tracking it down though gets harder at points(too many things getting ended)

The Badger was funny. He was always kicking ass but the funny part was that he really was insane. He talked to animals, dressed up in a costume to fight crime and was definately a loon. He also lived in Wisconsin...near Madison I think hence the code name Badger.

Multipal Personality Disorder
I liked the part where he wound up marring his Therapist.
Badger: You Can't Do that, that's My Coustom
Her: Yeah I can, I own half of everything you do.

I haven't read Hulk in so long. Infact since he left (though that's more coincidence than design), what did they do?
Adn I know what you mean about finding his stuff (I have 3 issues of Captain marvell and 4 of Young Justice) it's murder getting Comics in the UK nowadays unless you live in London or other big city.

Gah, what they did to him was basically give an ultimatum about Hulk(I know the guy...not too well but he reconizes my face at cons, so I feel pretty cool

)
Basically Marvel said Green Savage Hulk sells...he replies no it doesn't my 10 years and increased SALES proves that's bullshit.
So they say you either bring back Green Hulk so we can do crossovers or you can fuck off
So his last story arc was about Betty's death(which Marvel basically gave a hearty fuck you and screwed that story) and basicaly let them do what they wanted to do, as he went off to do other projects.
Peter David and Marvel have a rather colorful history...and that's being put lightly.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the upcoming Hulk movie with the classic green savage Hulk has something to do with it. They want the character to be similar enough to what's in the movie so they can make some extra sales while the movie is out and hope that some people get hooked. Certainly no kid is going to pick up a Peter David Hulk book and see much conection to the movie.
It's too bad. Besides all the cools stuff and jokes I think Peter David really put brought out some depth in Bruce Banner and the Hulk. Not to mention doing something interesting with all the good supporting characters. I certainly didn't read the book very often before he started writing it.

Coolness Tsyroc
Yeah your thoughts aren't too far off, especially given Marvel's penchant to make the comics agree with the films(Bullseye is already starting to look like the movie version...I guess Fisk is going to get a deep tan

)
But yeah it's sad to see Peter David go and they decided to make Banner into some bizarre helpless persona in his Hulk body, and the death of Betty though had parts to do with PD's personal life...which can be said about a good deal of his writing at times.

Well, the movie Blade was a big improvement over the comic version. The movie Bullseye looks okay to me. I guess a big frickin' scar on your forehead would be less conspicuous than a black & white body suit.
I've run into some of the toys for the Hulk movie and so far they've made me hopeful. I picked up a large poseable figure that looks very good. More importantly there are several toys where the Hulk is smashing things, including a tank. I was hoping to get some real Hulk style action and that they wouldn't back off to make him more "believable" like the TV show.
Since everyone who's involved seemed to be interested in the psychological aspects of the character I was concerned that they wouldn't get the action and coolness factor right. I'm still being cautious but I'm more hopeful than I was.

Other than the bits I've read at the news stand I've not read a Hulk book since he turned into the Maestro after Banner sucked up all of that shrapnel from a grenade. I don't think I even finished that storyline. I was mostly going comic book cold turkey at that time to save money.

For the movie...I hope they do it some justice...at least X-Men level(disregarding that godawful quote of Halle Berry and frogs)...
But my only problem is that Banner liking to become Hulk(the preview gave a bad end line about him liking becoming the Hulk) sorta defeats even Jack Kirby's original thought of a mild mannered person become a raging behemoth(though it does star Jennifer Connelly)...but I have hopes.
For DD my problem is the too many villain syndrome(3...jeebus and apparently he tangles with all of them...hopefully they establish them ala in Media res, because I don't need to see the origin of all of them...DD yes, all of them no)
As for Blade...all they could do was go up
For your not seeing Hulk...don't fret persay...other than he's a raging Behemoth on the run(with some minor mental issues, which will be easily discarded upon the next writer...damn you Marvel)

Yeah, the X-Men movie was only sort of good. I thought some of the effects could have been handled better and while I think they improved the Toad a great deal some of the things he did with his tounge were ridiculous.
I think the part about Banner liking to become the Hulk probably has to do with the power involved so in a way he likes it but probably not as much as he fears the loss of control and what might happen. I think they really intend to get into Banner's head with this movie. That whole idea seems to me to most strongly originate with Peter David so it's ironic that they ran him off of the Hulk book but are probably using some of his ideas.
You are exactly right about Blade. He had to have been one of the worst characters...there were several characters from Tomb of Dracula that I would have expected to see in movies before Blade.
I've been expecting the DD movie to blow (Ben Afleck?). Then I saw one of the movie trailers and it actually looked pretty good. They appear to have a good cast and production values so I might have to give it a try. Although I like DD I still don't understand why he was one of the characters pushed into a movie so quickly. I think there are many many Marvel characters & teams that make much more sense being made into movies, just because of the sheer coolness factor. I guess I just don't really see DD bringing anything new to the table as far as comic book movies go and I think if Marvel really wanted to make a lot of characters into movies they would have thought a little harder about what would be really cool visually.
I for one would love to see an R rated Ghost Rider movie based on the Dan Ketch version. You could almost film the first couple comics in that series and it would be fine.
Of course I want a real FF movie but that has had lots of problems so far.
I guess that since they've got X-Men, Spiderman and the Hulk that DD would be a logical choice. He's one of the few characters that has had his own book for a long time that doesn't have a whole lot of potential problems. Captain America already had one shot, the Punisher's getting another. I'd like to see Thor but what would the story be? The Avengers, which team and how much of a problem would all the characters be? Yikes.

Very true

. If only I could draw my current project would be much easier. At the rate I'm going it's going to take me at least a month to put out the first Hootersgirl comic. That and trying to learn Flash at the same time.
Now my favorite comic of all time is Grim Jack.

Well for Grimjack...like I said...I forgot stuff
And I too want a Flamehead Movie(which they are doing one with DK power but JB's name and origin...who knows what the story will be)...my god, I want him and the stare and Chain whip and all...the Bike could look so awesome...and coming to my house soo is GR and Bike.

What could be really great is a graphic close up of his head slowly igniting and the flesh melting off of his skull as he becomes Ghost Rider.
