Noticed a fun little fact: Stass Allie is killed on Saleucami while riding a 74-Z speeder bike (like the ones from ROTJ). I actually catched that on my first viewing!

EDIT: Can´t find any good scenes where you see the landing gear. Just one blurry shot on Kashyyyk. Sorry.

Try the first drydock scene, where the gangway ramp is lowered. Plus there may be one of the forward gear doors in the Obi-Wan/Anakin exchange before his trip to Utapau.

No real good shot at all, it´s either too dark, too muddy or they just avoid filming it all-together. It´s possible the forward leg is right behind the... oh what s the name... forward "trench"-thingies. The part where the sides sink inwards if you view the ship from above.

You mean the notches? That's where I've surmised the forward doors are located, between the notches. I don't know what the strut itself looks like, let alone the main gear struts and their locations.

I really liked it the first time I saw it.

The second time I saw it, it really dragged from all the goofy shit. I still liked it, but now it just feels like "one of the prequels". However, the scene where the youngling runs over to Anakin for protection pretty much forgives 90% of the cheese.

There are some things I just have to comment on:

-General Grievous reminds me of my uncle Hymie--he coughs, he slouches, he shakes a lot, and he talks with a vaguely eastern-European accent.
I bet he wishes he'd delegated his battle to his 10,000 battledroids now.

-Since when is all of SW tech based on Transformers technology?

-So Dr. Robotnik finally roboticized Sonic the Hedgehog and sold him to Grievous?

-The Wookies looked really, really silly while talking just after Yoda escaped, like they had Disney Cast Members in their costumes. I mean, what were they saying? "I really like Yoda." "You know, I thought it was just me, but he is really nice." "Yeah."

-That stupid bleeping and bloobing droid in the middle of THE duel of the movie--WTF?

-Dooku's expression. Nice.

-ObiWan's dark side point: I could end your agony Anakin, but I'd rather watch you burn.

-Aayla Secura: made out of asbestos. I mean, seriously, they shot her like 50 times and she didn't even smolder.
Also, was that really necessary? She must have been a real bitch to them or something.

-So the Emperor was a Denobulan the entire time?

-The entire theater I saw it in snickered during the "I've been gone for sooooo long." "I'm pregnant! And I don't show yet!" scene.

-The dragon thingie. My wife wants one.

-I liked how the Emperor approached his saber duel so casually, like he didn't even need his saber to punk Windu. Maybe it's because the actor is older and slower, but it actually made it look like Palpatine was just toying with the jedi throughout the entire duel.

Most of her costumes were made to hide the fact that she was well under way with kids.

And the wheel bike reminds me more of Silver Sonic then StH.

I just saw RotS the second time.

It fucking rocked even harder than the first. Not only was the audience much more quiet, which made me appreciate scenes much more, a lot of my criticisms went away:

- I like the "Nooooooooo". Definitely now.

- Palpatine christening Vader was no longer over the top- with the audience not cheering, I could hear wtf he was saying better and it was awesome

I also noticed a lot of new great stuff.

God this movie rocked. The best thing I can say about it is I took a friend who's alright about Star Wars (she saw the movies for the first time at my place last year and enjoyed them) and she couldn't stop saying how "fucking awesome" RotS was.

Saw it again yesterday. And it still fucking kicks major ass. I also noticed a few things thanks to reading this thread. This time around though I was able to get into the movie much more because I wasn't so busy trying to absorb the story. I nearly cried during the Order 66 scene. (You heard me! I'm not ashamed!) But my only real criticism of the movie stands. I liked the NOOO!!! scene I just thought that the body language during the delivery of that line was off some how. Perhaps if Vader had collapsed to one knee or maybe just held his hands differently.

Have seen it again as well. Much better the second time around. Even starting to like McDiarmid´s acting in the "transformation"-scene (which had me WTF-ing the first time). Order 66 was better as well. Damn that John Williams and his manipulative score! Felt so bad for Ki-Adi this time.

Noticed the clones on Kashyyyk using E-Web-esque machineguns, cool touch. Also noticed that one of the AT-APs appeared to be in the path of a Juggernaut, one more second and it would have crashed into it!

I saw the movie for a second time and I think that, for those who may have had a gripe with a scene or two,some of the criticisms go away. The "Nooo" scene wasn't as bad the first time, the romance lines were still a little scratch-nails-on-chalkboardish, the Frankenstein lumbering was sort of "wtf" but forgivable, the dry lines that Portman has were still blasé but easily forgotten once the action starts.

I think what makes this movie so much better than the previous two is that the audience can actually make a connection this time. Who wouldn't do evil things to save the ones they love the most? It dwells on a very likely matter that we all deal with.

I'm quite amazed by some of the criticism/nitpicking of this film. I've been 'away' from SW/ vs. debates for almost two years...not downloaded any trailers, not read any reviews or been near anything remotely 'Star Wars'...I thought the film was awesome.
A colleague of mine who has never liked Star Wars thought it was a good film.

I really don't believe there would be so much nit-picking if this were any other film, perhaps some of you need to take a little step back.

I got misty twice. First when Anakin returend to the temple as Darth Vader and the scared youngling asked him for help... and slaughtered all of them. The second time was the last scene when Luke was given to Owen and Beru Lars....

Seen it twice but have not yet been able to post. Here's my weighty pair of pennies.

I realy enjoyed it, I don't think it will ever overtake the nostalgia and love I have for the OT, but this movie deffinately stood on its own merits. Though it did have some flaws, I still felt engrossed and entertained throughout. I have to say that a lot of the annoyances do disappear after a second viewing, it was a pleasant surprise.

I agree with the complaints about the space battle. I had hoped for a bit more grand space opera in this, our final adventure. I was annoyed by the buzz droids because the same damage could have been done by a normal missile withought a lengthy sequence that just oozed manufactured tension to go on top of semi-legitimate peril. Still, the effects were beutiful, if a bit cluttered, and there was an enjoyable sensation of speed while following Ani and Obi.

I could have done without the R2 slapstick but I consider it an inevitbile side effect of being part of the prequals, that and an amazing amount of digiphelia.

Dooku's duel was short and fun, I adore Ian McDormund. Palps was perfect.

Very nice effects durring the descent, one wonders what they sprayed that ship with.

I thought Anikin's reaction to finding out Padme was pregnant was spot on perfect, it looked like they had caught him on his way to the set with an ex gf making the same line. THe perfect look of gut shot surprise, melting into believable happiness.

It was nice to get the feeling that Obiwan and Anikin actualy liked eachother through the first half of the movie. It was very refreshing to get a feeling that Anikin and Padme legitimately felt for one another.

Soime wooden scenes but essentialy, general fun and mayhem procedes apace in a manner I wholly aprove of.

Grevious seemed wasted. The vaunted, four-armed, cyborg Jedi hunter of the Clone Wars reduced to a hacking, running coward who drags his fight scene by including a chase. Defeated too easily even if Obi-wan has mastered his perfect defense style. Still establishing Obi-wan's perfect defense explains how he is able to declare victory soley by claiming the highground. Still, Grevious duel was stupid. But Grevious' ship was awesome. That thing was pure pulp sci fi and I want to park the prop in my garage with my expensive clasic cars when I'm rich. Good god that thing looked sweet.

As mentioned earlier, I love Palpatine's scenes. His baiting of Anakin was exquisite. His transformation was a very nice touch, and i forgive his over modulating voice because i imagine I'd sound pretty fucked up if I had just been force electricuted as well. Also, it's so nice to see him rant. Unlimited power indeed. I'll take this oppurtunity to make a comment regarding some confusion I saw in earlier posts. He did not claim that Anakin and he would need to learn the technique to keep Padme alive. He said he already knew it but he was not strong enough and needed Anikin's power to make the techniques sucscede. Knighting of Vader was a nice touch.

Order 66. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the greates cinematic achievement of the Star Wars trillogy. Lucas has never been better, he's never even been close. Kudos to John William's for the entire score and that sequence in particular. Good stuff with the scenes aboard the Tantive IV.

More fun with the scenes in the temple and the Senate.

Yoda and Palps, good stuff.

Anakin on Mustafar, plenty of fun. Padme scene was a bit overwrought but still enjoyable. The duel was quite good. But I have a complaint. Anakin and Obiwan are clashing on a narrow bridge with lava roaring and splashing behind them. It is the pivitol, iconic moment that fan's have been dreaming about since we learned of Vader's transformation. And as Vader and Obi-wan, backlit by a wall of flame, lock blades, a fucking droid buzzes in and makes a couple of stupid beeping noises. WHAT THE FUCK GEORGE!? Popped me right out of the moment. Rest of the duel was great.

Putting on the helmet was fun, good work with the whole armor sequence.

I was extremely annoyed that Padme was "in perfect health," I would have been much more accepting if she had been wounded by Anakin and lost too much strength durring emergency surgery. Not this lost the will to live crap. It makes her charecter so selfish. I can sort of understand it, but it realy rubbed me the wrong way.

I liked the James Earl Jones stuff because the lines showed charecter continuity. Nooooooo, was fine. I'll even forgive the way Hayden Christensen gave new meaning to the term "wooden acting" because it was his fisrt few moments with a totaly unfamilier body.

OVer all i thought it was great. The first two prequals, I felt I was enduring them, this I watched, and I felt the magic come back. I liked it and i will see it many more times this summer and throughout my life as a Star Wars fan.

Uts and I went to a Noon screening today.

I thought it was absolutely fantastic; a perfect ending note to both the Prequel Trilogy and the saga as a whole, and completely tears Stover's novelisation's ass inside out.

I was tearing up and actually crying at several points throughout near the end, such as when Vader burst into flames and Kenobi delivered his farewell speach, Vader's continued efforts to climb up the enbankment, Padme's funeral, Alderaan, the binary sunset, and several more places I can't recall right now. I actually made a slight sound when the the jappor snippet came into frame. Just beautiful.

I actually really regret spoiling myself to the degree that I did, which included reading whole portions of the novelisation (which left me completely unimpressed with Stover's ability at adaptation) and the entire script (which the film actually deviates from a bit). Fortunately, I had forgotten a lot of the details from my reading and more or less could just remember the general flow of scenes.

I hate that I'm starting each of these paragraphs with "I," but that's sort of unavoidable. Anyway, there really wasn't anything whatsoever in the film that bothered me, or that I felt was wrong. The Rebellion scene would have been nice, but the film flows well without it. Grievous served his functioned well as a diversion (and his lightsabre spinning was bitchin': lightsabres make a hell of a lot of noise when spun so fast). Hayden and Portman's scenes were good, even great at times. I had no problem with the "NOOOO!!!!" scene. Finally, I was pleasently surprised to see Amanda Lucas near the beginning of the film, since I didn't know she appeared anywhere outside the cut Rebellion scene (where she actually has a line).

A couple of particular points:

1. I am now completely and utterly convinced again that Palpatine's "transformation" was the deterioration of his disquise, revealing his actual appearence.

2. That is not and cannot be Death Star I at the end, so I believe even more firmly that it is the incomplete Confederate Great Weapon.

Buh? Was I trapped in an emotionless universe of pure nitpickery? I found the score uninspired, felt no power from the pivotal scenes, and thought only Ewan Macgregor and Ian McDiarmid were bothering to act. Oh, and maybe Frank Oz.

I DID like the start and end of the final duel: it's a shame the 'but I will not help you' line wasn't there. Still, good stuff.

Oh and the dual sunset worked. The only music that seemed to work was OT music, although I didn't notice the Vader-Bespin music in the Senate battle.

Am I the only person here who thought that the sequence leading up the Mace's confrontation with Palpatine (the one with no dialouge cutting back and forth) was just about as awesome a sequence as one can get. Lucas may be crappy with dialouge in the sense that he tends to force what should come naturally but the visual story he told in that 2min or so sequence didn't need words. He told an entire sub-plot wihtout a single line being spoken. You just knew exactly what Padme and Anakin were thinking, you could physically feel the tension and the magnificent sunset shots of Coruscant just set the mood perfectly. Moreover going from that straight into the confrontation was perhaps the most visceral fifteen minutes or so in the film (with the bonus of turning the tables on Anakin's earlier actions against Dooku, damn is Palpatine good at guilting this kid).

I'm glad I wasn't the only person bothered by this.

Also, another observation: heavily armored Super Battle Droids are flammable. Aayla Secura is not.

If the rumors of deleted space battle footage appearing on the DVD are true, I'll have to buy it. Hell, I'll probably buy it just for Order 66 and the Jedi Temple Massacre.

Does anyone else wonder what Order 69 is?

It's probably the order that requires Commander Cody's personal presence under the Imperial desk, immediately. Perhaps railguns are involved. I'm not sure.

Whatever it is, I'm sure that West End Games will mistakenly call it "Order 11.6".
