..super-torpedoes...
Amen to that. Not to mention the ridiculous amounts of fighter armors. I thought the game would last 500 turns when I realized 1k fighters was nigh invincible. Luckily you didn't have 1k grouped together :P.
...Now that Brian has let the cat out of the bag...
Well, it was kind of obvious, and your ship count has been going up and you haven't had anybody to stop you :).

No! This is role playing, not a bad fan fiction!

Marxis's a racist scumbag. Alshain's an idealist.

Somehow I don't think they're right for each other .

Jeez, where'd all this drama come from?

Thats really a shame that this seems to have degenerated into a big bitch fest thats going to culminate in a big bad slap down.

I really empaphise with the Centauri situation being that he got caught in the middle of a war that is now over, but where does that leave him - i mean he still has devestated systems.

For my part i've worked hard to get where i am and would really like to see resolution on various story threads most importantly being

- Narn / Dilgar war
- The military alliance that i was trying to build up in oposition to the light Block.
- The struggle for dominance over Earth Gov.

Those are the main points but i enjoyed building the basis for the central charactors of my government (even if their names are loosely pilferred from Far Scape) and am more than a little disappointed that all that work and about three months of slow build up is going to come crashing down.

One thing i will say, is that i've enjoyed the experience so far and hope that i've presented a race that has flair and a streak of crazyness to them.

And in all fairness Trogdor, i have to say that yours were definately some of the more enjoyble posts i read in the Rp thread. You managed to encapsulate the nervousness of someone in Londos' position whilst maintaining the flair of PJ which i highly enjoyed.

Stuck in the middle as i am though, i feel i'm about to be nibbled to death by cats.

Thank you. I must say I'm surprised at how well I've apparently done at depicting a character I've only seen a couple of times.

"But we must! The Dilgar have occupied one of the Narn worlds for some time... and there's reports of terrible atrocities reported by the Anla'shok." Delenn interjected, standing in the light of the chambers. Standing to the left of her, another Satai lowered his hood.
Come on!
There is seriously no evidence to support that at all. Truth be told that was probably the most peaceful take over in the history of this game. I mean its not like we orbitally bombarded the colony or anything.

:D

Fact is, the narn love us!!

Looking back, that post reminds me of that scene in chasing amy, where they introduce Lando Calrisian into the starwars arguement.

Keep in mind who's talking. Minbari are the ones who have rituals where one needs to stay up for days eating, and are silly with their 'open up weapons ports' welcome. :P

Probably not passing food to the person on the right of you is a grounds for insult. Plus, they're pointy.

Well, they seem jubilant enough. Then again i bet i'd be pretty happy with a few thousand military parked outside my front door threatening to bust in unless i was happy :D .

Apparently I've been bad-mouthed as a Quitter for leaving this game. :wanker:

Posted: 2006-03-18 12:50pm
by brianeyci
If you mean this,
I also want to say, since this point of being busy's come up, that if anybody needs to take a break and quit, just say so and no questions asked you could leave, maybe let the AI or another player play your turns for you until you come back a few weeks later. This is more important now that we have three games and two RP threads running, and we're going into exam time so it might happen. Nobody is going to think less of you if you put RL ahead of a game, but better to outright withdraw than dither around
I wasn't talking about you specifically. In the other thread, I wasn't talking about you but more about people who don't say anything and go on missing turns for a long while like what happened in the ST game. Quitting is fine, I don't care it might happen to me one day. It could happen to anybody. It's just a game and if I stop having fun I'll quit. Not likely though :P.

It's okay Brian, I'm not talking about you... :)

It's pretty much a me, Tobor & Kojiro thing. I don't understand it myself - I didn't complain when Neph beat me fair & square, I just took objection to the "tactics" Kojiro used in this game. It's not like I was in actual trouble and quit to avoid that.

The only kind of quitting that would irk me is people half-assed quitting... not going out and withdrawing and keeping everybody waiting.

Shit happens in life, but it takes 1 minute to go to the PBW site and click withdraw on all your games so other people can play without waiting for you.

It's actually sometimes good form to quit if you're in trouble. If you know the other guy has won, why not quit and save both the trouble rather than having one cloaked ship fly around the galaxy and force him to research sensors and hunt making the game go on for ten years. It was good that Tuxedo quit when he knew he lost, I wasn't in the mood to fly around and burn planets all day, no fun.

Agh FUCK! I hate how this goddamn thing works! Instead of a simultaneous attack with multiple fleets, I get totally screwed because the game sends them in one at a time!

Posted: 2006-03-18 10:51pm
by GuppyShark
Goddamn. Were they all at the same distance from the planet or something so you could be reasonably confident they would arrive simultaneously?

GuppyShark wrote:Goddamn. Were they all at the same distance from the planet or something so you could be reasonably confident they would arrive simultaneously?
Yeah! All of them were on the same point and I gave them the same order at the same time. I was told that it might be because they weren't all together in a fleet.

I'm so pissed off.

You uh need to put them together in a fleet...

...did they arrive one at a time?

Fights happen every 5 days. If your ships all have the same amount of move points, they should all fight on the same day, even if they came one at a time. That is strange.

<edit>If you don't know what I mean by day, press the play button and the days come up.</edit>

No, they didn't arrive one at a time. I sent in three fleets and four loose ships. The target was within range but....argh. Fuck.

Well if all your fleets didn't have the same move points, then every five days they fight and there would be different fights.

Did you accidently glass the planet? Maybe a redo, but I'm guessing you'd have to get Tobor's permission :P. Tobor had the same problem earlier--his ships appearing right besides yours and yours getting first shot. You lost a lot more this time though, but that's life .

Anyway even if you had won--it looks like he's got 140 ships, so you would have to have sued for peace. Looks like the Minbari got to save your ass :P.

No. What happened is that the entire fleet I sent in was annihilated with minimal losses to him.

With all due respect Dalton. I didn't ask for a redo when my fleet got burnt the first time around. So i would appreciate if you don't make an issue out of it.

Besides which, even if you had beaten my space fleet i'm reasonably confiedent that the 1,450 troops i have garrisoned on the planet (with guns no less) and a racial bonus to combat and ground combat would beat the invading troopers you had (with armour plates and no guns) what with your ~-50 to ground combat and all. Oh yeah then theres the +20% my guys get for defending a homeworld.

How do you get all those screen shots Brian?
Not to mention how do you export, or take snapshots of the game window?
