What is his tier?
Dunno what you mean... He's been playing ever since the closed Beta started, this is his profile. He's pretty much specialized in destroyer and cruiser warfare, and is currently trying to collect all ships.

Yeah, his profile shows he has barely any games post Tier-VII, which means he is still at the point in the game where you don't need to worry about silver. Even more, he mostly drives the Minekaze, which is the most OP DD in the entire game and is a silver-creating machine.

I think that's on purpose - when we talked last week, he mentioned he's trying to regain his collection from the closed beta. I think he was saving for the Fubuki, back then.

Finally got a good game in after working hellish days, jumped into my Wickes (still working my way up).

Traded shots with various enemies, then zeroed in on a Wyoming. Dodged its fire (and that of SoCal that joined the party) frantically and put home two torpedoes. Ran directly into an allies' torpedo and sank. Flooding killed the Wyoming for a "Just a Flesh Wound!" award. Woo!

Got a Solomon Islands map first game today. Nice.

Also sank a Wyoming with torpedoes for 'Just a Flesh Wound' too ^_^ I mean, I died and all, but I'm not gonna look down my nose at ~1k XP...

OK, excruciatingly annoying bug. I try to use the chat and evry time I hit 'enter' it'll fullsize or downsize the screen. Ugh.

Solomon Islands sucks. They decided that since having only two roads to get to the enemy was bad, they now got two roads and a slightly wider middle. Hooray.

First battle in the New patch had this result. Im impressed by the insane number of planes my AA gunners took out. I also Sank a battleship and nearly sank another when the match was called on points. I survived to tell the tale. Overall extra sake for the crew all around and a good match.

Was this the patch where battleship accuracy was supposed to be boosted a bit? Did you notice any difference there?

Your picture came out really tiny, man :P

I played another Solomon Islands game and ended up a little better off. Actually almost survived to the end there. A lot of the other team decided to come around the south and flank us, we caught them trying to sneak through down there and opened up on the lot. That was really fun. Got killed by a dead Omaha's torpedoes as we were charging into the rest of them hiding in a strait.

I haven't played my South Carolina yet so I can't say about accuracy, but then, it's the tier 1 battleship, it's going to be dogmeat any way you look at it.

Yes, I love it. I can now hit cruisers much better.

Here is a larger picture. I really am sorry for that. I did however find that accuracy was improved and it was most certainly needed.

Man, it's too bad that trying to update kills the wifi here. When I get home for my next break I am SO going to enjoy getting back into BBs if this sticks.

I just got the Iowa. Holy shit is it good. Hardly a match where I don't end up with at least one kill.

Of course, shit economy means 2 kills = 80k profit.

Hey, apparently I am the 25th ranked player in Europe in the North Carolina. *tops hat*

Carriers need a fucking nerf, stat.
Midway and Hakuryu rank #1 and #2 in:

Damage done
Win rate
Experience gained
Survival rate
Ship Kill Rate
Kill/Death Ratio

These stats apply to both EU and NA. No other ship even comes close to the domination those two ships have. Closest competition is the Essex and the Taiho

A decent battle for a carier is 4k experience. Once a carrier decides that you die, you die. Doesn't matter what ship.

Don't believe me? Here is a AA-rigged Montana with 99 AA vs a single torp squadron.

Ridiculous.

Are dive bombers still weak, as was alluded to a while back?

Yes but they don't matter anyway. Torps are where the game is at.

It's very true that a Battleship is basically helpless against a carrier, and not even in the Rock Paper Scissors way, but in the "you will get deleted from the match" sort of way that only torpedoes seem to do. Now, I'm not really surprised, as that's kinda the way it was back in history too. But it certainly seems a lot less fun to be on the receiving end. Maybe an AA screen would help but, ehh, would it? It also seems a bit low skill.

Well, it is a bit ahistorical. I mean, AA-fitted ships like the North Carolina and Iowa class downed a lot of attacking aircraft and their barrage was quite effective in breaking up attacks. But these airplanes can just fly through all that AA fire, not even change course and only lose 1 plane on the approach in. And then deliver a torpedo barrage with deadly accuracy.

Things are very fucked up when out of the post Tier-IV ships, the top ten in winrate are:
Midway
Hakuryu
Zuiho
Murmansk
Hiryu
Essex
Ryujo
Minekaze
Taiho
Mogami
Yep. Out of all the ships post Tier IV, 7 out of 10 are CVs. This is clearly unbalanced. Heck, the only ship in the top 5 that is not a carrier is the premium Murmansk, aka a ship that costs money. Battleships don't even rate until the 11th rank, which is taken up by the Yamato (coincidentally the Tier X and quite good at taking hits).

This is a fucking problem.

Oh....and AA escorts don't do enough. From a Tier X cruiser player:
Unfortunately, Defensive Fire doesn't do much to save allies from a good tier 10 CV player. It is generally a simple thing for the CV to fly close enough that the cruisers use their ability, then loiter 8 km away for 40 seconds, before diving right back in. Generally, it results in maybe 2 or 3 extra planes downed, and rarely is it enough time for the allied CV to get his fighters over there, as they are often tied up by the attacking CV's own fighters.

Having been the cruiser in this situation many times, I can say that it is unfortunately very common, and that isn't even counting the times where the CV just bombs right through the defensive fire - a Montana is pretty hard to miss.
Or to further prove the point:

What could the cruiser do better here?

And besides, when the Midway carries 160+ planes, who gives a shit about losing ten of them anyway? Even saves you time due to not having to fly them back.

So, basically, for the game not to become World of Carriers, they would need to increase the effectiveness of AA fire against torpedo bombers?

You could always decrease torpedo accuracy, or make carriers detectable from further away, or give torpedo bombers a longer cooldown...

Having not played at that level myself I can't speak to how balanced or not they actually are, just saying there are lots of different options.
