Well, I haven't heard a great deal about it, other than the fact that it continues alon with the same premise as Mirroden (artifacts and equipment and stuff). 5th dawn was changed, rather massively however, if MTG.com is to be believed (R&D sometimes don't know what they are talking about, even though they design the sets).

And, no comments, questions, critisisms, or other alliterations  upon my little thought piece?

So, do you think this will continue the story of the Myr?

From what I've heard, yes. Its supposed to be sort of a continuation of Mirrodin (But then again, most expansions are a continuation :P)

wel, seeing as that they seem to hint that Mirroden was created by Karn, I think it will probably be yet another giant continuation.

Created by Karn?

How? Where does the hints come from.. cards or backstory?

There are a line of novels published with each expansion set. The novels chronicle the 'storyline' behind each set. It's horrible reading, but fans of the series often enjoy them.

Some have been quite well written, although mostly the Urza's cycle, when they hired real artists and said fuck all to the cards. After masques, it really went downhill fast.
The karn hints are from cards like Titanium golem, which continuously talks about how a Golem created the world. I only know of one golem with that much power, Mr. pussyfoot himself, Karn.

And, despite lack of response to my first mini-essay, I am preparing another. This time on the issue of Competitive players vs. casual players, and the detrimental affect that this feud has on the card game as a whole.

The first novels showed up with 4th Edition, iirc. If you bought one, there was a mail-in coupon you could send in to receive a limited edition Magic card.

One of the cards was an Artifact that produced Mana. I can't recall the name of it. :(
The second card was a Red Creature called the Windseeker Centaur. 2/2, Did not tap to attack.
The third was a Giant Badger. 3/3 trample, iirc. I'd have to go seaching my boxes to find them.

I also recall there was a special card created for DragonCon '94 ('95?): Nilanti Dragon. Red card, 1/1 flying banding. You could also get a copy in Scrye magazine, which is where I got mine.

Mana Crypt, drawn by Mark Tedin, 0 casting cost, tap: add 2 colorless mana to your mana pool. At the begining of your upkeep flip a coin. If you lose take 3, or something like that. Fun card, was restricted around Saga I think.

Oh, and I am gonna push my next little essay back a week, but next weekend, I will probably get around to proofing and posting it.

Interesting development for those of you who don't mind playing with billions of proxies:

Apprentice 2.0 is on the way. Looks grand from the two screenshots on the dragonstudios website.

Ah... More screenshots.

I played Xisiqomelir just yesterday, but he had to stop in mid-game. I was playing artifact prison, he had Keeper... He managed to Force of Will my Ancestral Recal and Smokestack, but I managed to put a Tangle Wire and lots of other things into play before he had to go.

Played again with Exonerate! Him being teh white weenie and me with my good ol Erhnam Burn'em. First game I put like no forests in, drew 6 mountains in a row and conceeded, 2nd the Djinn came through for the win, 3rd (post sideboarding) I ate so much red hate I thought I was done for, but I topdecked an Anarchy at a good time :D

Hoping for another game with our serious decks!

(Tevar and DarkPrimus, please approve me on ICQ)

I made a bad play there. I should've used holy day, then decreed for my soldier, then cast worship. That would at least buy me some time...

Theres a new mechanic that when a creature dies you give +1+1 counters on target creature = to the number of counters on it, in darksteel.

Hmm. Looks like a good idea for phantom/spike decks if anybody plays them...

The best place to dig up news on the newest sets and the newest deck ideas (for those of you who prefer to get your decklists from the pros) is at www mtgnews com

They have a good card search engine and a very active rumour mill where you can always catch first-glimpses of new and speculated cards, mechanics, and sets.

I made a mistake, you may put the counters on an artifact creature

Well, I played using a joke deck that uses The Cheese Stands Alone against Tevar, but then something went wrong with her comp. I used another semi-joke deck that used Mortal Combat, but I had to go... I kinda screwed up one play though.

That first one dropped because the breaker tripped at my house and we lost have the apartment. Had to go traipsing down to the cold, damp basement to reset it.

Sorry about that.
Oh... and warn me when you're using 'joke' decks or Unglued cards, ok? :)

I got a Library of Alexandria, and I feel like gloating :D
