By going with your threatened plan of action you will haveAlyrium Denryle wrote:The conditions were a cease fire. All we need do technically is remove our troops, and leave the tortugans to fend the themselves. We are being NICE for offering them anything at all.
Wrong. A cease-fire is a two-way agreement and the Tortugans will still technically remain in a state of war with your nation if you simply pull out. The Monacoran casus belli will still technically be in force.Alyrium Denryle wrote:No, no I am not. You will see
All you fuckers wanted was a cease fire, we can easily pull our troops out and meet those conditions.
Hey, cant say we didnt try to get a cease fire. I didnt bother to mention the other course of action. They refuse the cease fire, and we pull out all the stops and have as little regard for civilians as they do for their own people.Pablo Sanchez wrote:By going with your threatened plan of action you will haveAlyrium Denryle wrote:The conditions were a cease fire. A) Failed to destroy the pirate fleet
B) Encouraged further piracy to fund the Tortugan rebuilding process and to keep their fleet supplied in the interim
C) Backed down cravenly in the face of Monacoran threats, thereby legitimizing and rewarding their aggression
D) Sacrificed many casualties and a boatload of cash to absolutely no material or political gain whatsoever
At the very least you're going to have a crisis of confidence and the fall of your current ruling party. You're a democracy, and there will be electoral repercussions for a fiasco of this magnitude.
Dude... we dont operate on the same set of instincts that people do, you will have one hell of a time pulling that shit offThirdfain wrote:Blackeyes time. I've got some Legitimate Political Dissonance (tm) to go and perpetrate.
Well we arent accepting their treaty, as we were not the aggressors, so I suppose the Monocorans can go fuck themselves.Pablo Sanchez wrote:Wrong. There by slaughtering the innocents you claim to be trying to save. And of course making your war even less defensible to an already uneasy internation community.Alyrium Denryle wrote:Hey, cant say we didnt try to get a cease fire. It is an option, not a good one, but an option.Stormbringer wrote:There by slaughtering the innocents you claim to be trying to save. Oh, and forget ever winning them over. Everyone will rightly be calling bullshit if you try that after carrying out that plan.
Which means you're going to be bleeding out heavily, making an invasion catastrophic affair for your nation. Assuming that you don't generate even worse PR problems with a protracted, planetary scale guerilla war.Alyrium Denryle wrote:It is an option, not a good one, but an option.
Eventually someone will catch you. You have to know that.Thirdfain wrote:Blackeyes time. I've got some Legitimate Political Dissonance (tm) to go and perpetrate.
Depends on what you're caught at. You, alone, will never be able to conquer all the other nations in the STGOD through main force, and eventually you'll have to use main force. You really think you can get allies that know you'll simply conquer them once you're done with everyone else? No, Thirdfain. Once your final moves start, it'll be you against the galaxy and that's not odds I'd care to bet on for you.Thirdfain wrote:But will it be soon enough, Rogue? Will it be soon enough?
Assuming you're referring to the leak I orchestrated, you're doing the wrong thing. Stop screwing with my plan!Alyrium Denryle wrote:It hung in space, ready to intercept what it thought was a massive convoy. Little did they know, their spies had been leaked false information. When its interdictors pulled the convoy out of hyperspace however, they were in for a bit of a suprise. while they were just outsde draconis space, that was no convoy. It was a full Draconis fleet. with interdictors. However, while it was pulled out, they did have the option of aiming their jumpgates... Several ships were damaged on the get go.Pirate Task Force "A"

8 cruisers
4 carriers
40 fast destroyers
30 missile destroyers
5 modified freighters with interdiction equipment

It'll take some pretty fucking crazy warship jujitsu, but I'm powerful enough to take you on right now. Who knows how powerful I'll be tomorrow? No, Thirdfain. Once your final moves start, it'll be you against the galaxy and that's not odds I'd care to bet on for you.
Furthermore, he can't post the bait and then say you grabbed it. You have to decide to go for it.Straha wrote:Wow! Aly, how in the hell did you find this fleet that has spread apart and split up, and for that matter how did you get this message from the spy when the fleet would be running on silent incase they could be caught?
Do you not see that the convoy I leaked was real enough, and the pirates would either try to intercept it or have it get through with loads of war materiel for the Dracos? It wasn't empty information. The pirates would be able to corroborate the convoy's existence plenty of times over as it formed up at Verling Station and jumped out along the same vector that had been leaked. Much as I hate to bring this to everyone's attention, Verling's not that hard to get observers into on legitimate freighters to take a look at other shipping. So, the pirates can not attack the convoy, in which case it gets through with medical supplies and munitions galore, or they try to intercept it and I'm not telling exactly what I'm going to do if they go for it. I don't remember asking Alyrium to pull that out, though...Hotfoot wrote:Oh, gee, let's see.
Pulling out convoys from well-traveled hyperspace routes
vs.
Feeding false information and assuming that the pirates fell for it with no questions asked.
Do you not understand the fundamental difference here?
Yeah, I caught that later on, see above post.Pablo Sanchez wrote:Furthermore, he can't post the bait and then say you grabbed it. You have to decide to go for it.Straha wrote:Wow! I did?Even though Rogue 9 has explicitly stated that I have ignored it.
What reason? You want the freighters that are actually directly useful to the Draconis war effort to get through in favor of attacking general commercial vessels? Fine then, if you insist. Hope you like blowing up.Ignored it, as you may have guessed if you'd thought this through, with a reason.
