Wow I didn't even notice that. Doesn't bug me that much mostly because I don't have a Wii yet.

Not sure what to make of this...

In random online matches, the CPU will actually take over in the middle of a match if someone gets dropped/disconnects.

You don't carry records over, so there's no ranking system to corrupt with this. Since there's no 'ranking' system, if someone drops, the worst that could happen is that you'd lose an opponent. By having the computer take over you do, at least, maintain the same number of badguys at once.

So that's cool for me.

Um, guys?

Is that a co-op team battle a la Super Mario Strikers I spy?

If so, YES!!!!

This was my #1 most wanted Smash Bros feature ever since I played Super Mario Strikers. I always get together with a friend and we kick butt online, the two of us in the same room vs two other people online.

So Waluigi will be an Assist Trophy... It's nice to see he'll be in the game at least, though I was secretly holding out for him to be a playable character. Something about how utterly ridiculous I could see him moveset being... Ah well, It's not a terrible surprise he wasn't playable. Wario probably filled the spot for goofball character. Glad to see he'll be in top form though, "stomping the person he despises most."

Target Challenge and Event Mode have both been expanded for two players, which is cool.

Anyways, recent updates are Samus' new stage: the first boss fight from Metroid Prime. This stage will actually flip over from time to time.

And a new item: the Team Healer, which heals the target when thrown.

Today's Update was a video of the Subspace Emissary Adventure Mode made up of all kinds of win.

They really need to make a Super Smash Bros. like RPG akin to what Kingdom Hearts was for Disney/Square.

Naw, it kinda defeats the point. You see, the SSB series is there to let you bash on the "good guys", the ones that you never get to beat up normally.

And yes, the base idea of a crossover game is awesome, but it already exists: we're lookin' at it.

Today's update was "Overalls Wario"

After you go through Wario's normal colors, you can then cycle through Wario's colors with the yellow hat, shirt, and the blue overalls.

The past two updates have been pretty cool, both of which describe "minigames" that you do to collect Trophies.

To get the trophies of enemies in Subspace Emissary, you basically need to play Pokemon. When you pick up an item called the Trophy Stand (the smash logo coin that appears on the bottom of every trophy,) decrease the health of an opponent in SSE and throw the Stand at it. If successful, the foe becomes a trophy.

this (notice the stand Peach is holding, and the Towtow's health)

Also confirmed is Rayquaza as a boss for the Diddy Kong/Fox story arc. Bosses such as Rayquaza and presumably Petey Pirhana can be captured as well.

Also added is a replacement for the Trophy Lottery in Melee. Rather than just put coins in, you'll play an arcade-style shooter where you attack enemies and Trophies with your coins to earn Stickers, the trophies you hit, and other rewards.

It's gonna be REALLY hard to capture trophies on your own. When you're holding the Trophy Stand you'd be limited to only special attacks since the A button will throw the stand. It'll be much easier with a friend.

THESE ARE THE LAST UPDATES UNTIL 1/7

One: There's an item in the game called Dragoon, which is a Star from Kirby Air Ride. If you manage to collect all three parts of the Dragoon, you can use it to OHKO a targeted enemy. However, you need all three parts, which appear as icons above your picture when you get them. They can be knocked out of you.

Two: There's a "Share" mode, where you can exchange screens and videos with friends, and periodically get some from Nintendo.

The Updates resume today with more returning stages from Melee: Onett, the Great Fox(Corneria), Brinstar, Yoshi's Island, and Rainbow Cruise.

For the record, that's three Metroid stages so far.

Does anyone know when updates stop? The Japan release is on the 20th.

I have no idea.

Next up, the Multi-Man Brawl. Now Co-Op, online, and featuring the amazing Fighting Alloys!

Please stop humming the Power Rangers theme. Right now. I'm serious.
