Thought I'd surface and wave a flag in this. Currently looking into Eastern European property prices.

He's actually well qualifed, speaking Andalusì, Masotani Elven, and a few other languages, and actually having a silver tongue and quick mind when the situation calls for it. I'm just establishing the character of my people early--they have the spirit of the best Moor rulers of Spain (tolerance, intelligence, and practicality), plus the Castillian blend of playfulness, preening masculinity, and nearly insane bravery.

Just a question, as it came up with just now with hotfoot, and I should know it as it has some influence on how to play my nation...

Are the nations we control completely "pacified", or are there things like Orcs bands and assorted other fantasy things running around, waiting to be killed?

by Hotfoot
Silly mortal, there's no such thing as total pacification. Borders end because beyond that point, you cannot adequately defend yourself. Clearly, the powers now have some room for expansion, but even into the white space, things exist.

And mountains are not the perfect protection they should be. Sure, people don't want to cross them because they are difficult terrain, and freshly-rested troops await them on the other side, but other reasons exist here as well. Mountains, swamps, forests, even the oceans can contain things which are rather territorial. Dwarves in major mountain chains have to worry about defending their subterranean borders just as much as the surface dwellers do, and with good reasons.

Small chains of mountains well inside your borders would be much safer from such things, but minor troubles could be expected (goblin thieves, easily killed, once you locate their dens, that sort of thing). At or beyond your borders, however, darkness is waiting, eager, ravenous...

...and you all are chewy and taste good with ketchup. ;)

Hell, I've got a freakin' hostile dragon in Wales. I'd hardly call that pacified. :P

Ok. I think that my OOB is completed short of the map and some heroes (I have to put some thinking in this and it will be posted in due time). Would the mods tell me if all is well and right now, please?

One of them is. :P Though I daresay that one is probably more powerful than yours since she's not restricted by regiment price, since she's not a member of anyone's army...

I have another hostile lizard in steroids in my territory. Nasty lizard about which I intend to write quite a bit.

Think my dragons can fit inside? No. They are waiting by the door. I am MAKING it my business, as on that island, I have dignitaries as well.

Straha, just to point out, you're being addressed by one of his representatives' dragon, not the representative himself. The dragon would naturally have remained outside.

Did I say I have any problems with him doing whatever he wants outside? For all I care he could be throwing a Luau (sp?) BUT I do have a problem with him butting into a conversation that he has no right to be a part of. This is for (Stormtrooperofdeath? GOD DAMN I keep forgetting who is playing Cypus) and not for Aly. If I want to talk to Aly, I'll say I'm talking to Aly. End of story.

Ok, here's how new units work. The year is divided into 4 seasons. We are starting on the spring of the 670th year since the fall of the Reman Empire.

You gain a certain number of points to spend on training troops at the start of each season, and those troops can come into play at the end of the season. You can of course hold points over from one season to the next.

Here's the drill.

Grand Powers get:
4.5 points to spend per Summer.
3 points to spend per Spring
3 points to spend per Fall
1.5 points to spend per Winter

Medium Powers get:
3 points to spend per Summer
2 points to spend per Spring and Fall
1 point to spend each Winter.

Regional Powers get:
1.5 points per Summer
1 point per spring and fall
.5 per winter.

We realise that not all nations even have winters, but even then, they have growing seasons, and have to work around that, so we'll make the system universal for simplicity's sake.

Any new territory conquered will add to your productivity across the board, for an ammount to be decided by T3h m0ds

I guess those points are regiment points?
Can they be spent to train existing troops, making them stronger, as well, or only on new ones?

Correct

I would be inclined to say that yes, you are allowed to use them to improve existing troops, though we would ask that everyone please use some discretion in doing so, as having troops with 20 points of power will quickly become silly ;)

Unfortunatly, you are dealing with multiple powers in the same city. And it stands to reason that a dragon isnt going to give a rats ass about some sailor being annoyed by his questioning.

Besides, I am suspicious of your motives.
