PeZook wrote:Gentlemen, I think it's time. FASTA is perfectly willing to include a MESS astronaut as a lunar module pilot for the first manned lunar landing in the Selene program: is the MSA willing to provide one for us?
(FASTA does have people from MESS nations in our roster, but they're civilians who applied on their own and passed the training process. We're looking to have an actual MSA astronaut on the flight)
I don't know just how many folks we will have handy because the two of us being the secretive jerks we both are didn't publish actual launch schedules. Right now if I'm not mistaken we are in Q1 2015 and the most recent FASTA launch would be Selene 1 the most recent MSA launch would be...crud I've gotta get up to speed because Pegasus 5 should have finished yesterday and Pegasus 6 is going up sometime by the end of this week.
So anyway I've got 10 total Pegasus missions and then the MSA is on its own moon trajectory. Admittedly Pegasus 7-10 all have orbital docking manuevers in their program so the moon mission series is gonna be a bit shorter. I haven't been announcing the remote landers since those MSA launches have been taking place largely under Old Dominion facilities though central co-ordination remains. Under our previous agreement I think we both would probably have a pretty good picture of both space physiology and also lunar surface conditions.
All of this is to say I'm currently on path to finish the Pegasus series by the end of 2015 and the follow on program would launch shortly thereafter. I'm juggling the appropriate number of lunar orbits versus orbital docking practices but right now mission #5, 6, or 7 will likely be the moon landing for the MSA. Depending upon how things look that could mean as early as Christmas/Yule '16 or as late as Easter '17.
If Selene launches 1 mission/qtr that would put you on the moon roughly around Q1 2017 if Selene 2 were to launch this quarter. So in other words unless our programs are suddenly changing their rate of launch it will probably be a race to see who lands first and everybody on the MSA side is probably gonna be betting on their own horse rather than jumping ship to FASTA.

I'm looking at the submarines, and I don't think 25 missiles per tube will work very well. Amongst other things, the tube is circular, and so the missiles in the corners clip outside the tube. A hexagonal packing is much more efficient, and would actually fit. Gives 19 missiles per tube.

It's not a tube, Beowulf. We're making a new hull, not converting the SSBNs with circular tubes. It's a 5x5 fitting VLS, which makes more sense to use if you are using new hulls, not old ones.
Moreover, I was mistaken about the missile complement of the boat. It was 700 missiles, 14x2x25.
Frankly I could reduce the complement of each tube if someone gives me a good reason to use circular tubes.

Well, there's the obvious of reducing the number of perforations of the hull. Also, that makes me wonder why you have the light blue circles behind the red ones.

That's cause I calculated the necessary space using the radius of the ballistic missile used in the Typhoon - makes things easier to use circles. There would be simply larger openings in the hull. The Typhoon's hatches are larger than the rocket shaft anyhow, and the ones I use are yet larger by 20 cm, so I think there won't be a problem with making larger openings.

I'm still in play, I just have to catch up with a ton of crap left at my work during my stint on Jury Duty. My supervisor was caught by surprise by my selection (hell, so was I) so we didn't have time to prepare a work schedule; then the week I came back she was off to some seminar for a week, and I had to handle all her stuff plus the intestinal blockage of files that was left for me from the previous week. Blah.
Fortunately, none of it is time-sensitive, but I hate leaving work to pile up.
Should have it cleared out by tomorrow, though. I'm planning on hosting Shroom and making a trip to Pezookia, myself, before too long.
And, of course, continuing the "Land of the LOST"!

So, no one got what "Transient High Pressure Gas Control Systems" are? I guess I'll have to make another post.

I was just wondering, as I cannot recall him ever appearing on an actual mission crew list when I was reading your lunar landing program, but it appears I was wrong.

Oh, I think I got it all right. You're pulling a TBO on us. I would've done it myself, but turboscramrockets are so 1990s... I decided to go down another route.

I don't have a Vizier. I know better than that. They stab you in the back and try to take power for themselves.

Yes but since you aren't denying my assesment of 1 mission/qte the MSA could be first in which case I should be asking if ya'll want to send us an Astronaut to make the event "for all mankind"

There could be risky leaps like Apollo 8, and why not? We could simply exchange one astronaut each, so that whoever gets there first makes it a historic achievement we can all sing Kumbaya about

Fair enough

are apparently Chow-Yun Fat, the kung-fu emperor of
China Tian Xia, so Nick Cage doesn't stand much of a chance, Fu Manchu or not...

Historical note: Viziers haven't been in use in Tian Xia since the 3rd dynasty wrested control from the 2nd. It was a coup by the Grand Vizier.
EDIT: looked through my brief history: Tian Xia has been in existence as a continuous entity for approximately the last 1000 years. It’s gone through 7 dynasties, with the usual route of change being a noble revolting against the current emperor (Huang Di), and succeeding, demonstrating that the previous dynasty had lost the “Mandate of Heaven”. One of the dynasties was a short lived one that resulted from a successful invasion by a barbarian tribe. Another was a result of usurpation by the Grand Vizier.
Yeah, they looked at history and learned from it.

It's done. I posted it back on page #20, but for your convenience:
Also and RE:
Coyote's latest drive for a base on Frequesue, aren't the Vineyards supposed to be a former Shinra colony instead of a Canissian colony? There already is a Shinra navalv base there after all. I'm not inherently opposed to foreign bases on the continent anymore though. Makes me wonder what one might be able to get in return for such a favor. Hmm... Something to ponder...

Yeah, they looked at history and learned from it.
I don't think our Floating Pagoda's displays really base their displays on, uh, actual Tian Xia techniques.
Since the restaurant also serves "authentic" Tian Xia cuisines like sushi, pickled cobras and dog.
EDIT:
And aren't the Vineyards a former
Shroomanian colony?

In other news...
Gentlemen, BEHOLD! Every ship that has served in the Langley Navy since independence in 1948. For extra fun:
- Pick out the class names that aren't derived from anime, manga, or video games.
- Name all the anime, manga, and video games I've taken the other class names from.
Some of those should be easier than others. I'm either really crazy, really unoriginal, or both; you decide.
As for my world tour, I'll continue it tomorrow. Next stop, PeZookia again, since I took that detour to the UCSR and apparently got stuck there until New Year's...
