Where did someone mention the tenth amendment specifically?

Sorry, the guy's previous tweet:

"@JasonHBG: read the 10th amendment then you understand the point. Not about a muppet #GOP2012"

It's about Mittens' pledge to cut .04037% of the deficit by slashing PBS funds.

Only thing I can think of would be that since "funding public radio/television" isn't in the list of powers delegated to the federal government explicitly, it falls under those "reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

That hasn't been the interpretation of the Constitution since the civil war, but it's the only thing that comes to mind.

That's what I thought. The 10th is rarely invoked.

You know those other two ... the ones pulling a collective three percent of would-be voters?

They had a mini debate on NPR this weekend. And the short of it is ... this is what happens when an actual leftist debates an actual (economic) far-right lunatic.

Just watched the debate. Does anyone else get the feeling that Barack Obama really doesn't want to be president anymore?

No. He had a bad debate performance, but substantively he won. Now if the next one is as bad as the last one...

I listened to that myself.. Not sure what you mean by your comment other then both involved sounded like utter loons when it came to their policies. I mean, they both had some really good points that would be nice to implement.. but they also had points they would be impossible to do and were way outside the rational parts of politics.

Man, the liberal poll truthers are at it now. PEW is biased, it's a scam!

Having worked in statistics, virtually all polls have some bias. That's why you put them all together into a composite, in my view. Rasmussen, for example, always has a bit of lean rightwards.

I read that Rasmussen tends to do that because it only calls land lines and not cell phones; demographically, the tendency seems to be that more Dems use mobile devices as their only phone number. Forgot where I read it. In any case, Nate Silver says that Pew poll is the only thing giving Romney a significant boost in the latest forecast models.

It is basically a case right now of "Everyone says he got a huge boost in the polls, therefor, he must have got a huge boost in the polls"

As far as I am concerned the "Polls" in this case all seem to reflect things like "Like-ability" and "Leadership" and other fluffy things. Everyone in America saw Mittens wasn't an emotionless old fart like they thought he was. But it doesn't mean it changed their votes...
The best summary came from someone random person on NPR basically saying "Romney showed that he really cared about America I think, but he didn't explain why he cared"

Speaking of Rasmussen Nate did a piece on them awhile back basically using them as an example of in built poll biases. That Rasmussen controls for it but despite that looking over the long term most state and national polls they do tends to be exactly 1.6% to Republican on average in many polls. It's not the 3%-5% some claim but a pretty consistent 1.6% which has grown over the years and they have been increasing their internal offset to compensate. He did not venture a guess that in another three elections their landlines only polls might be utterly useless. Instead he limited himself to saying the more time goes on the more places like Rasmussen run into trouble as the offsets required start making basic polling impossible.

Historically the incumbent usually loses the first debate and the challengers polls rise a bit shortly after, but Obama still has a solid lead.

NYT's FiveThirtyEight forecast gives Obama a 74.8% chance of victory. No, Romney isn't going to win.

Why are you hyperventilating about this anyway? The differences between Obama and Romney are pretty slight, one's a corporatist right wing candidate, the other's a slightly more corporatist slightly more right wing candidate.

Absolutely! Come January, Romney's Mormon Republican Freedom Bots will swarm out across America to ruthlessly oppress all opposition to the Great Patriotc Dominion of Jesusstan. Their target ... evil homobortionsatanatheist LIEberals like you. Suddenly, rich white assholes will all sprout monocles and randomly kick poor people in the streets, and rednecks with guns will openly tear through the heart of San Francisco in the backs of smog-spewing Chevy pickups, shooting at tree-huggers with their evil black rifles and their high-capacity tacticool magazines filled with WP tracer rounds. Every tree in every forest in the nation will be magically transformed into an oil well, and every wind or solar farm will magically become a sooty coal-fired power plant. It will be absolutely fantastic! And that filthy brown secret Muslim Barry HUSSEIN Obama will be whisked off to Gitmo to be waterboarded like the terrorist-loving capitalism-hating socialcommunazi traitor to FREEDOM that he is.

Stop posting with your reptile hindbrain.

The first Presidential debate was, essentially, who could be the better robot. Mitt Romney, already being a soulless robot, had a natural advantage over a mere human like Obama. Furthermore, there are still three weeks, and two debates, to go before the election. There's also the VP debate ... where, if the Democrats are smart, they'll let Biden off his leash; and the debate hosts will be shampooing what's left of Paul Ryan out of the carpets for months to come. On top of that, Romney flip-flops more than a fish out of water. Undecided "gut" voters may not be the sharpest marbles in the jar, but Romney's Etch-a-Sketch strategy has quite the potential to backfire spectacularly on him over the next three weeks. Also, a record number of people have voted early this election cycle. We won't know how those votes will break until Election Day ... so polls of "likely" voters capture a smaller slice of the electorate than you might think. Obama's also been pulling in a lot of money lately, and that will serve to offset the monies being generated by GOP SuperPACs.

Finally remember that it's one set of polls, out of an entire mountain of polls taken over the course of months, that indicate Romney has tied or slightly leads Obama. The rest of the mountain of data still indicates that Obama will be handily reelected.

I'm not sure if you heard the same debate that I did.

Let's recap:
Jill Stein - Medicare for all, because doing so eliminates all the bureaucracy associated with competing insurance companies and the bureaucratic machinery required to determine whether someone passes through all the inane eligibility hoops and other barriers to health care that currently exist. Stimulate job growth through a infrastructure-heavy "New Deal"-esque program.

Gary Johnson - FREE MARKET! FREE MARKET! RAR! PROGRESSIVE TAXES EVIL! GOVERNMENT BAD! I WILL IMPLEMENT ULTRA-REGRESSIVE CONSUMPTION (translation: national sales tax) TAX TO FUCK POOR PEOPLE!

Yes, both would be exceedingly difficult to implement in the present American political climate. But Johnson's platform is boilerplate Randroid. Stein's ideas may be a bit of a pipe dream, but at least she seeks to help average Americans. Johnson's ideas (replace all taxes with the notoriously-regressive consumption tax) would actively sodomize anyone who wasn't a rich white asshole even worse than present GOP ideas do.

Ok yeah I forgot mention that.. Went back and listened to it again and RETRACT My statements 110%.
I swear in my head I must have got some of the junk Gary said and thought that Jill had also said it..
So yeah just me being an idiot for that. Jill Stein was awesome.
