Essentially I'm looking for a Cavour capable of carrying Rafale's. I ought to have made this clear before, but should the ship embark a bunch of tanks, it doesn't necessarily have to be able to carry 40 aircraft at the same time (it would be pretty sweet if it could, but we have to stay reasonable here - we might have a joint navy, but we still won't be able to afford a Nimitz).

How many tanks? Because a Charles De Gaul carrier in its standard configuration, though with a lengthened hull so that it gets a proper flight deck, needs quite a bit of tweaking to be act as a LHD as well. I think the tonnage for the carrier is about 50,000 tonnes at that rate, larger than a Charles De Gaul with a widened and less streamlined hull. You will be looking at a speed cut probably unless we put in much more powerful gas turbines (which for air operations, is a bad thing) and eat more space up. Plus, you need a well deck for amphibious operations. I am also going to state for the record that as a shipyard builder, that a mission critical asset like that might be better off being more dedicated....
Unless we go with an electric drive to save on space arrangement, but I think we might have to add another 5000 tonnes. I'm just guessing here but volume is going to a critical issue with such a carrier.

Okay, my conflict with Norseman ended with the following casualties:
CSR
KIA: 2x top CSR aces from "Agressor Squadron" - Mikhail Ilyshin and Eli Gromov died in a MiG-31M "Bort 201" of Agressor squadron, killed by an S-300V missile when penetrating Astarian IADS.
DIA: 1x MiG-28K pilot failed to land his craft back on the carrier and died.
Astaria
10 radists, 5 pilots in Astarian A-50 plane KIA.
1 pilot, 1 navi in Astarian forward MiG-31 escort KIA.
2 soldiers, 3 workers, 4 slaves, 3 sailors KIA, 41 people wounded in naval port bombing by Kh-90 ALCMs.
South Veleria
87 dead, 117 various people wounded in naval port bombing by Kh-90 ALCMs.
We just hashed it out in ICQ.

I based my initial specs off the Italian
Cavour, but I just noticed that ship can only carry eight VTOL fighters or 12 helos. Which obviously is far too few to be to my liking. And hybridizing a
Wasp with a
De Gaulle would probably (A) be too expensive and (B) end up in the 'jack of all trades, master of none' category.
You know what, I'll scratch the LHD section and make the ship a dedicated carrier.

Um... "we the Emperor"?

I'm now bettering relations with San Dorado, but there's a long way from that to regarding them as a "strategic ally"

Well, Byzantium only, then.

But yeah, fostering good relations... paves the way for better cooperation. At least... their fears of imperialist powers will be mitigated.

Goddamn realpolitiks. You grind me on the basis of giving stuff to these guys, and now you end up selling them their first honking aircraft carrier. Bleh.

Well, technically, it isn't their first. I remember Bearne taking my damn JFK class CV from me. The only thing that bugs me is that they didn't take my offer of maintenance machinery of the ship. Which leads me to wonder what shape the ship is in. The ship is nearly 2 decades old.
But yeah.. I think I overreacted.
Anyhow, I decided to ratify the CCCP treaty. Happy now?

Yeah. That'll save me from spending hours wikipedia-ing obscure weapons systems, giving me more time to do homework and school requirements.

I have decided to flesh out my diplomatic service a bit. The ambassador to Shroomania will be Reginald Albert Forman. A Navy veteran and a bit of an old school thinker on a variety of subjects. He is known by almost everbody by his nickname "Red".
For those times when Prime Minister Shroom the 777th needs a swift kick in the ass.

Hey, the Prime Minister has been decisively low profile this time around. In Game 1, he was WAY more lively.

The CSR will sign the CCCP...
We have but one minor thing to ask

the construction of an OTH radar in Shroomania.

Actually, he needs two. One on the northern corner of his island, and another on the south.
And because of my wide extent, I'm building.. something like 4-6 of them. Some will only come online next year. I'm building both OTH-B... and the other OTH.. forgot what it's called. OTH-SW I think or was it something else.... A couple will come online by end of the year, while another 2-4 next year.

OTH?
Sure. As long as Shroomania gets to use the radar as well. I presume it'll be used to keep an eye out for... them?
Here's what we'll do. Since having the Crimsons put radars officially will piss Shroomanian people off, we can do it under the aegis of the Continental Defense Plan. Make it more of a "Continental Defense Radar" than just the "Crimson's Radar" as to not piss the Shroomanian people off.
It will have a multinational and multiethnic bunch of dudes! Including token black men.
Radar information shall be given to the CSR, and to other folks as well.
(Either we do it this way, or the radar will be "officially" owned by Shroomania but we'll beam information and radar data to you. So if the SNC ends up getting into a war, the opponents won't end up bombing an officially Shroomanian and not-SNC-affiliated radar site... a site that's actually beaming you guys information because unofficially, the site is like a whore and basically does it for everyone!)
Coyote did ask me to put lookouts in Shroomania also.

Shroom, I suggest you model your OTH on the Jindalee in Australia, with maybe more maximum peak and average power. The ones I am building are similar, and multistatic as well, just so to defeat stealth.
BTW, regarding the F1, we should draw up a list of nations participating, and also a list of nations who want to host the race. How many races depends on how many nations want to host the race.

They're bloody expensive, but sure. I was looking at France's, though. NOSTRADAMUS is an awesome name for a radar system!

MESS is insular? What?
Canissia does plenty with the Old Continent, and they're the main counterbalance to Japanistan in Velaria.
Tian Xia had their Tian Jiao thing, but aside from various projects I can't recall any major foreign policy initiatives they've done, though they were present for the Cascadian Conference remember.
The Old Dominion just had a war with their neighbor and got bombed pretty good. That plus the whole nuclear thing and just being Shepistan's neighbor means their concerns are understandably turned inward for the time being.
Serenity is working with Cascadia on a few things, from their prior support in letting tankers base there to the new CVA-04 project. They've also responded to Zoria's Pacific Alliance thingy (though Zor has kinda stalled on that one).
Byzantium is as you see them.
Myself, I work with Cascadia mostly, I was at the Cascadian Conference and even gave you all that note, I'm working on observer status with the FTO (thanks for the replies, I suppose only Indhopal is left to weigh in on it?) and I've completed a deal with the Vineyards to sell some frigates as well as a few other things.
I suppose Wilkonia is the most isolationist of us, mostly doing the MESS New Horizons project, but I put that more to CmdrWilken's limited time than any real isolationist policy. I would assume he's doing general trading and all that, as indeed most of us probably are in the background.
Now, if you're talking about the MESS as an alliance and our seeming lack of alliance-wide goals you'd have more of a point there. Aside from R&D stuff, space travel, and all that we're not doing much as an entire alliance, no. But individually we're out there and doing stuff, although we are tending to be a bit more regional as of late.
