The shuttle accelerated away from the ship to make the mildly short FTL trip to Passchendale space. It arrived in close orbit, before plummeting through a gap in the shield. The baron had an excellent view of the city center, spanning a continent and the Great Palace of The Great Leader. But it kept going over the high mountains to the east, which had as yet stemmed total development. Beyond was the ocean; they flew over it, then to an island fortress, a huge planetary shield generator protected by massive ground to surface turbolasers and other defense, though they had already passed many such installations.

But here there was a tunnel leading inside one of the cliffs, the shuttle entered and the Baron was escorted off to be led to a high-speed train. An hours trip at 7000 kph followed. At that point the Barons escort was left in a lounge and a single servant of the Great Leader, lead the Baron through what was in fact a maze, filled with security screening equipment as well, in case anything could get past the initial checks on the shuttle and at the landing pad.

Finally after another half hour of walking they arrived at a mammoth blast door. "We now enter the chambers of The Great Leader Baron." The two stepped through the opening door, apparently but not in fact operated by the pair of guards. Inside where chambers and rooms that could only be described as extravagant. Another walk, by this point greatly annoying the baron lead to a small room marked "Parlor". They entered and inside stood The Great Leader, sipping a drink.

"Welcome Baron de Alps Pini to my chambers. Now please help yourself to a drink, and explain why you have dared to see me."
