Here is the overlook for Avery Cook, bodyguard extraordinaire!

Name: Avery Cook
Affiliation: The Order
Age: 45
Psy Rating: Prime [P1D]
Psy Specializations: Precognition [short term], Danger Sense, Emotion Scanning/Manipulating, Teleportation [short distances]
Enhancements: Various cybernetic enhancements including a micro-gestalt
Equipment: Dark Cloak, 2x P-16R Hybrid Pistols, Zenith Technologies Stealth Suit
Description: Avery Cook is one of the most respected and skilled members of the Order. As a prime, he possesses one of the most powerful minds in the Empire and he has trained it well. His body and mind have been honed to a razor’s edge through a regimen of near constant drills and cybernetic enhancements. A superb assassin, he feels he has nothing to prove and continues his work because he believes in it. He has sacrificed a great deal in order to become who he is, and has no immediate family or attachments. He is willing and capable to go anywhere and do anything for his nation.

~~~~~~~~~
Equipment Overview
Dark Cloak: A dark cloak is capable of bending light and most forms of EM sensors around itself rendering its user nigh undetectable by those means. The quantum light guides are even capable of channeling weapons grade energy around the user, although it is only able to do this for limited amount of time before damage to the optics takes place.
P16R Hybrid Pistols: These pistols are state of the art capable of accelerating handfuls of various molecules and plasma at hypersonic speeds. The most commonly used ammunition is anti-matter due to its devastating effects, although iridium and thorium are also commonly used.
Zenith Technologies Stealth Suit: The most expensive and feared aspect of order members are their stealth suits which incorporate a wide array of capabilities. These capabilities are as follows.
- High resistance to Magic [especially to detection, evocation, illusion and death spheres]
- Resilient to small arms fire
- Adaptive Camouflage
- Integral micro-sensor suite including motion sensors and various EM methods
- Wireless communication and subversion protocols
- Limited Morphwear Capability
edit: expanded the capabilities of equipment and clarified some points. As always, the hunt for typos continues
Would those implants stop the Prime from sensing the assassins location?
While they protect him from attack would they stop someone from sensing his thoughts? (Not outright readin them, just sensing that their there.)
How pray tell would that mage-blade have been aqcuired? If any of our people catch him he as as good as dead.
Well I'm sure mage blades are pretty common, seeing as mages themselves are common. After all, things have a way of turning up on the black market.
I dont think its an incredibly irrational assumption to make. At some point, one of your mages would have been killed on the field of battle. There are many people in this galaxy who are not as squeamish as you and I about looting corpses, especially if there is the chance of obtaining something as valuable as that blade. And as long as at least one of them is on the black market.... well, the Krell Combine has ways of obtaining things that are hardly common.
Keep in mind, this is hardly standard issue. I had intended to make a post earlier where Yrt Ztal receives a package from Adar Krell containing neural implants and the blade: a very greusome post where he had to install the neural implants on himself. But Marcao lept ahead in his timeline to the day of the operation, so I just went from there.
It depends on several factors, the most important of which is the nation that they are attempting to infiltrate. For example, a human spy attempting to infiltrate the Realm of the Blood King could do so without too much difficulty (if he was properly strong-willed or shielded from the control spells) but he wouldn't be able to find out very much--being a human, he would not have access to anything sensitive.
Another factor would be what the spy is attempting to do. Passive intelligence gathering (hanging around in a major city and watching for clues) would have a rather low chance of failure... aggressive intelligence gathering (breaking into government buildings, kidnapping and interrogating officials, etc.) would have a rather higher risk. Sabotage, inciting riots, assassination--all of those would have very high probability of discovery, and once discovered a spy is as good as dead.
Generally, the more a spy is doing, the more likely he is to be captured.
Thing is, the creation of those blades is a well guarded state secret. Not only that, but rank and file mage-blades turn to stone upon death. But suffice to say, if a mage blade sees it... that guy is sooo dead.
Oops.
Well, then, I will just have to make sure that he isnt seen. And although I do not wish to belittle your mage blades, it does take some doing to kill one of my special ops guys. My current posting with Marcao should provide ample demonstration of that. Again, Im not producing these babies, I have looted maybe one or two from mage blade corpses.
Bugsby, the United Protectorate just made first contact with my republic a couple weeks ago at most, game time. They had no contact with other powers prior to that. You're telling us that you've gotten spies into his society already?
Chances are if you field a noticeable number of troops that carry this weapon, some are going to fall into the wrong hands one way or another. Hell, someone could have simply sold it, mages are not above corrution, hell I'd say they are prone to it; anything for power, right?
Oh and Alyrium, are you still at my diplomatic conference, your last post was:
Alyrium Denryle on page 10 of the STGOT 4 Game Thread wrote:" It has been some time since something this... Interesting, has happened. I am operating with a direct link to my ship, they are already well aware of what is going on. We would be glad to continue talks. Hells, that 'presentation' was so boring I was getting ready to kill the man myself. If you have the death penalty in your empire, we will gladly furnish the plans for our Gnomish Death Machine(tm) I hear it is almost worse than death."
Although it could be possible. If he knows about me, I could very well know a thing or two about him. Oh well, I changed my post anyway, you are right. Although I can pretty much guarantee that if our negotiations go through succesfully, I will end up knowing a bit more about our friends the UP...
I was recently asked what Ousters eat, and, for anyone interested in starving a Cluster out, I'll quickly describe the process.
Ousters build Food Factories (thanks, Frederick Pohl!) out in a system's Oort cloud, where the elements Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Nitrogen can be found in the comets. The comets are processed into hydrogen fuel, water, oxygen, and CHON foodstuffs- bland, basic foodstuffs. Other trace elements are needed, of course, to make CHON nourishing. CHON can then be used to either make rations, or to nourish plants- Ouster Spheretrees, which grow in zero-G around a large lump of CHON, and are engineered to bear a variety of noutrishous fruit. Ousters can synthesize proteins and fats from CHON, making what is known as "vatbeef." Of course, Ousters often enjoy eating the "real thing." A small percentage of the Ouster population lives on planets, even within the Elysium sector, usually for the purpose of mining. The other common use for planets by the Ousters is herding. Cows and sheep are bred to feed those rich enough to afford the exorbitant off=planet shipping costs.
thanks
thanks thirdfain, I like to take pride in what I write. It is part of the reason why it tends to be a widdle bit more verbose than I want. *laughs* feh.
Laz, thats a hell of a fleet for a group that just arrived in the region 15 years ago and conquered a few puny worlds. I submit that it might take decades or more just to modernize a world from 20th cenutry tech to "modern" technology, and 20th century civilizations can't exactly build armada's.
I brought that fleet with me, we dont' even have a fully working shipyard yet.
That's one of the reasons i'm so peacefull, i do-not have, and cannot-have for some time, a war economny.
