I mean, the thing has two weeks of endurance, he can go around.
Around what? Altitude and camera parameters, please. Vertical shooting or not?

In any case, shooting drones down is normal practice in the real world and no one draws a hissy fit about it. Shep does, because he wants war.

He just shot down my prototype MX-2 Nuclear Powered Aircraft which was on it's way to begin a long duration survey of Terra Libertia.

He's over Alexandria. No idea what his altitude or camera parameters are, but he could be flying merely 40,000 ft and be immune to anything the insurgents can have. Again, the YR-2 isn't a UAV.

Oh, okay. He shot down your spy plane then ;) I corrected the UAV blooper.

In any case, you had a nuclear high-altitude drone investigating the nation; that's not good, especially with murky borders.

The Diocese had equipment to enforce it's airspace. Hwoops. Deal with it.

Hell, we banned F.O.B.S. and LEO orbital craft which is launched by nations at will, to prevent spying. Now you claim your high-altitude recon craft is okay. Don't be too pissed it was downed.

Stas, the Bear Republic has FIREFOX aircraft as well - that's what their semi-stealthy fighters are. They've got... like hundreds of them. Along with their zeppelin sky fortresses!

I don't have the FIREFOX. It's not a really viable design, and basically a ruse ;)

FYI, Alexander is pretty much pissed with a lot of people. He's got a big ass incident due to shit that wasn't properly run past him, as far as the man is concerned.

By the way Phongn, I asume you invited Shep's plane in as part of the agreements you had with Shep right? Alexander doesn't really like Shep at the moment (considers him too unpredictable and hated by the international community). Though with you being the Iron General's major arms dealer, his options are limited if he wants to make an issue of you slipping Shep's plane in  .

It was a single unarmed reconnaissance aircraft; we thought that it would be entirely reasonable to have loiter above, especially as it would provide excellent intelligence information for Gen. Alexander. We weren't exactly expecting it to get shot at while within friendly airspace!

Not only major arms dealer, but developing his mines, developing his infrastructure and also dropping a lot of tonnage on his internal enemies. He damn well better know not to press the issue too far.

Unfortunately for him, he is called the Iron General for a reason.....

Which "SAM site", Shep? Seriously, the S-300 is a mobile SAM on wheels. If you didn't shoot it at the attack time, you can't destroy it period.

Meaning you just arbitrary chose a S-300 trailer park somewhere in around Magalia.

Did you also use a nuke?

Well, yes. But if he kicks the IRT out, then what? Nobody else will deal with him like we can (no offense, but Indhopal is just too small), and that might fatally weaken his position, considering the rest of Libertia have real support from power blocs.

Plus, with our work in E. Neverhood, he's not as critical as before ...

Mushroom cloud, black rain. Obviously he used a nuke.

Wow a nuke. Yeah that was fun. Oh by the way, there wasn/t much of a GDP to think of but yeah, you just killed it.

So Shep, think you want to toss some nukes in my direction? For what? Violating a Byzantine Protectorate wasn't good enough? By the way, I waited for the aircraft to cross the border before shooting it. You said it yourself right? Surveillance of "your enemies"?

It depends how mobile the ones are in the Diocese; they might've become a bit slack over there since it's so quiet. I mean, Patriot is mobile but they're often deployed in fixed positions, too.

Well, he probably selected the battery nearest to where the estimated launch point was.
Did you also use a nuke?
Looks like it.

That's it. I say it rains asteroids and volcanoes on Shepnukistan.

Uh, Shep's reconnaissance aircraft got shot at in airspace that was not the Diocese's (the plane was either in international airspace or over Alexandria). He destroyed the offending SAM site (granted, with a huge helping of collateral damage) ... and so far that's it. Are you guys really going to escalate further? It can pretty much end with this right now.

And how the fuck does an aircraft take photos of Diocese territory without going over it?

By flying very high and looking sideways.

Well, Shep used a nuclear weapon, killing lots of people in the Diocese, including possible Byzantine military members.

Too late to salvage that I think.

Lets look at what Shep posted about his nuclear recon plane:
"What's that?" asked the Iron General as he pointed to a contrail up high in the sky over Alexandria.

"Friend of ours," replied the IRT advisor. He'll be giving us real-time reconnaisance against our enemies for the next two weeks."

Up high in the sky, the YR-2 Nuclear Reconnaisance aircraft cruised on it's nuclear turbojets; it's cameras clicking away, and transmitting their data to a downlink station run by IRT advisors.
He's noted nothing about it being over the Diocese, violating your airspace or anything of the sort. If he's looking at the Diocese, he's doing it by flying high and pointing the camera sideways, as he noted.

Shep issued a declaration of war against Byzantium, when he doesn't even know that Byzantium operators shot him down (what if those were from the Diocese).

Next thing, he just nuked the Diocese seaport (not the largest, but yeah).

Sure, let's pretend that did not happen.

I think that was been a misunderstanding when Shep initially read what happened, actually. He read it as Byzantium hitting his planes, not the Diocese; it could be retcon'ed out.

Well, nobody's pretending that he didn't just wreck one of their ports in retaliation.

I mean, Act of Q. He makes a sky volcano appear over Shep's cities or something. Killer robots. Independence Day aliens. Something. I don't know.

Who RPs the Diocese? I think we are in for a war. Even if it doesn't get any larger ,the Diocese will declare war on Shep, that's unavoiable.

Byzantium will be dragged into it. And through that, all of us will be in for it. Oh joy.
