So .. how long is one turn? 1 month?

Re: Strategic Fantasy Crossover RPG
May I recommend some form of the Unreal Time so popular in SDN's World be used, in addition to the turns? Diplomatic negotiations might get tricky otherwise.
Conversion Table:

Basic Unit of Laryngitis = 1 Hoarsepower
453.6 Graham Crackers = 1 Pound Cake
1 Kilogram of Falling Figs - 1 Fig Newton
Time Between Slipping on a Banana Peel and Smacking the Pavement = 1 Bananosecond

HA! Zor gave us machines, and we also have crop-magic!
(Since, you know - his capital intensive agriculture gives the exact same yields as everybody else's, it's obvious everybody uses magic to boost their farming)
Bad choice of gift, I suppose

Re: Strategic Fantasy Crossover RPG
So how many provinces are people capturing this year? it seems to vary.
Fingolfin is capturing almost his own weight in empire. (30-40 provinces?) i dont know how many troops he used for that.
Zor has captured in excess of six while shooting his way to the Baltic.
And i took 8, for which i used 3/5ths of my army approximately though with little losses. The question is whether i'm being too cautious or Fingolfin is being too reckless.

I did ask straight away how many are we limiting it or not. Anyway, Most of the lands are pretty depopulated, since everyone stayed in cities for the most part.Darkevilme wrote:So how many provinces are people capturing this year? it seems to vary.

And I used a good portion of my available army (like more than half). Otherwise, someone could try cutting the number of provinces because just by eyeballing the map, there's a tonne of them in front of my own capital and they are disproportionately sized. I would imagine that I actually conquered like 20 or so, but that depends on how large the province is.

Re: Strategic Fantasy Crossover RPG
I am taking 25 and expanding this out next turn. The big thing is IIRC a province you take doesn't produce there turn you take it, produces only half the next turn, 3/4 the next, and finally full 3 years later, while needing 1/2 then 1/4 the forces to pacify before assimilated. Taking territory is long game strategy, it uses your army now to get you points down the road.

Re: Strategic Fantasy Crossover RPG
I'm not taking too many provinces myself, but that's mainly to do with the fact that there's pretty much only deserts surrounding me. I mean I could exploit established game mechanics by seizing ridiculous loads of empty Sahara, but realistically I already have the choice bits of land in my general geographical area, so really - should I bother?

I'm taking provinces slowly and putting a garrison of over a thousand soldiers in newly conquered territories.. that should allow me to get provinces producing quicker and welll assimilated. Plus we've got to kill all those troublesome bogeymen so our new subjects can live in peace of mind and life.

Siege, you could expand further down the Nile.
As for how many provinces I took, it will be a modest amount, around 6-8. However, I'm on my way to a personal union with Denmark, and I'm buttering up to local tribes for great trade.

Yeah, that's the plan. Now that the Black Kingdoms have sworn fealty to me, I shall venture south, discover the source of the Nile and the Mines of King Solomon, become unfathomably rich, and then impress all of y'all with gold-plated rhinoceros cavalry. What I lack in lands, I will make up for in sheer absurd wealth!PeZook wrote:Siege, you could expand further down the Nile.

As long as the Pharaoh can bathe in gold, and as long as there are rag-poor straggler states to our north desperately in need of our wealth to finance their myriad brushwars, Egypt doesn't really carePeZook wrote:And then you will discover modern economic phenomenons, such as one called "inflation"

Besides, c'mon, admit it.... You just know that sooner or later your druids will be wanting one of those fancy golden calves to decorate that cozy forest hamlet.
