It says that; they're all part of the Federal Commonwealth of the Vineyards. That is what it's still calling itself these days, isn't it?
Bluewolf wrote:OK, what shall I call those countries if they are one?
The North Frequesuan Trust for San Dorado, Sabika, Coilerburg, Valley Forge and Port MacArthur (respectively 1, 14, 17, A & B on the map).

The Federal Commonwealth of the Vineyards for the Vineyards, Eutopia, the Earlesi Protectorate, the Savior's Hide and the Southern Republic (respectively 7, 8, C, F, G on the map).

Also, Eastern Occidental Free State (H on the map) has declared itself an independent nation which has the backing of both Indhopal and the NFT.

Alright thank you for that. Also does anyone have any close up shots of the Fuckland islands or a map with them on which is big enough that I can zoom in without it being a pixelated mess?

No, we aren't grumbling. I'm just noting my approach is "many large cruise missiles" not ABMs, because smaller ABMs work fine enough. I mean... no one is seriously developing ballistic missiles because there's so many ABM umbrellas and huge OTH radars deployed everywhere. Kinda makes no sense to make bigger and bigger ABMs, put them onto ships and all that.

More revisions:

Praetor DDGN: 90 cells, each about 1.2m by 1.2m. Total cell area: ~ 129.6

Exarch CGN: 128 cells, each about 1.2m by 1.2m. Total Cell area: ~ 184.32m^2 + 36 cells angled for heavy cruise missiles.

You may start your ranting/grumbling/criticism. Reason for change: I realised that the dimensions simply won't do what I ask of it to do, like fit 3 missiles (with diameter about .6m.)

May revise some more if I still can't work out the diameters.

EDIT: I Was talking with Stas, and I am basing off this:

Contradiction class

And the damn ship is only 15000 tons, and also has 214 cells (~.6m diameter), and 36 large ~1+m cell. About the same as 90 ~1.2m x 1.2m cell on mine.

Coyote, or Darth Coyotus, perhaps we should work out some of the details of Japanistan's and Indhopal's new alliance? As far as tech sharing goes Indhopal really wants to have a steady source of 5th gen fighters and get its hands on some high end bombers and delivery systems. What Japanistan has these days is kind of vague and to produce competitive designs may take years of joint development work. I also think that Indhopal would be very interested in doing joint work on submarines; Japanistan always seemed to have innovative designs under the waves.

Other points to consider: will there be joint exercises? I think that there will be some eventually. Also it might be interesting to have some culture clash as the militaries and civilians in each nation get to know each other. I'm pretty sure we have very different ways of doing things!

Finally there is the fact that we all know Japanistan is planning "something." Having Japanistan and Indhopal figure out just how much they can trust each other should be interesting to say the least.

I think if I recall it right, the only 5th Gen fighter Skimmer had was a MiG 1.41.

You do realise of course allying with Japanistan makes it difficult for me to justify the laser license.

Do what you feel is necessary on the licenses front. I was thinking that there might be sanctions and such as a result of Indhopal's decision here. Frankly though going it alone is just stupid, I already ran the idea of a defensive pact past my biggest trading partner the NFT and best of all no one really messes with Japanistan.

OK, I just wanted to ask this as I was curious. Say I bought a certain plane of someone or something. Would I also be able to buy the specs to it so I can make my own or can I just do that anyway with the plane I have bought? I am just wondering as I would like to be able to produce some basic things myself.

The term you are looking for is "buying a license." Countries do that all the time in the real world, such as how Russia sold Venezuala the right to build AK's a while back.

Such deals happen in this game as well, you just have to work out the details with your supplier. Generally they have to trust you somewhat to be willing to do so.

If you are willing to pay for the production line, easily a few hundred million.

I would suggest you think about something you wish to specialise on.

Except that bigger and bigger ABMs at some point, thanks to the lower DeltaV requirements, become bigger and bigger ASATs.Moreover I don't think any of the new generation of ships mounts a paticularly large number of ABM/ASAT weapon. I know the WIN vessels mount a ratio of about 3 or 4:1 of SAM to ABM/ASAT missiles.

OK, did a major update on my country:

Tell me If I should change or improve anything or if something does not make sense. I don't know much about militaries and how some bits of a country run.

Lonestar is your navy about to be in the throes of lil-crappy-ship-itus? Or will the traditionalists win the day?

RogueIce is drawing up a shipbucket style pic right now. There will be a distinct family resemblance with the rest of the STAR ships.

Actually, from what we're using, more like 80,000 tons.

And even if this thing never sees the light of day, it's an Executor-class STAR dreadnought. How could we not go there?

It was my idea, by the way. Beo just made a post and some specs for it.

You guys do realise that such a ship is easily worth nearly two Nimitz at the least?

Of course, you are going to find me a real skeptic that it is indeed a 75000 battleship. I wonder how much the Montana would have cost when inflation adjusted.

Well 16" smoke canisters will do a damn fine job of laying down some concealment so I guess that would be one viable assessment :D

Power, hull stress, speed and size issues all suggest that this is a smokescreen for some obscenely expensive construction programme. Also, um.. guns? The ship will never get to gun range within any large ship. Typical engagement envelopes are all far beyond 100 km now. Another reason to think it's a masterful ploy :)

The guns would imply they are there for NGFS, not anti-ship work.

Guns would fire saboted rocket assisted projectiles. Something like the EX-148 shell, but crossed with AGS technology. Probably on the order of several hundred kilometers range. There'd be a nuclear option, of course.

When all missiles would likely be fired away from 300 km and beyond, and the battle would be decided in the following several minutes? Right.
Lonestar wrote:The guns would imply they are there for NGFS, not anti-ship work.
That's even more ridiculous. Who in their right mind would bring that ship near the coast? It's not an obsolete reactivated battleship which you can afford to lose to an enemy's missile boat armed with a nuclear warhead or just an enemy AshM armed with a nuclear warhead, or a torpedo from ground-laying SSK. It's a ship that is worth an entire Navy in metal and money alike.

NGFS for modern assault operations can be supplied by installing MRLS with beyond 100 km range to amphibious assault ships, LPDs and LSTs...

This ship is an open ocean battleship that poses such an engineering challenge for anyone, and is so ill-suited for all roles of naval combat that it cannot be anything but a smokescreen. Even an enormous carrier platform works better and is more believable than this. And that's not even starting to talk about the speed and hull stress, as I said.

As Beo and other MESSheads have Naval ATACMs, it's a foregone conclusion such missiles would be embarked, obviously the gi-normous 16' wouldn't be the only thing in play.

That ship, especially as a ground support battleship, makes as much sense as the KM Fuehrer, so forgive me if I'm firmly convinced it's nothing but a ploy

Alternatively - just a huge waste of money for flag display purpose. "Hey look we can build obscenely large shit! Floating islands ahoy!". Kinda like the Japanistan 100-ton tank.

Oh, and

May not be entirely correct, but it's more or less the way things stand now.
